Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as an Aircraft Engineer
Verify your degree maps to the role
TN approval hinges on your degree matching the job title exactly. Aerospace, aeronautical, or mechanical engineering degrees typically satisfy the requirement; a general science degree without engineering coursework often doesn't. Confirm the alignment before applying.
Target MRO facilities and OEM manufacturers
Maintenance, repair, and overhaul facilities and original equipment manufacturers file TN letters routinely for aircraft engineers. These employers already understand the documentation requirements and won't need education on the process during your offer negotiation.
Request a detailed support letter from your employer
The employer support letter must specify your job duties, the connection between those duties and your engineering degree, your work location, and your compensation structure. Vague letters are the leading cause of TN denials at the border for this occupation.
Search for roles using Migrate Mate
Filter by TN visa sponsorship and engineer job categories on Migrate Mate to surface employers already prepared to support your application. This cuts out the back-and-forth with employers unfamiliar with the TN process for aviation roles.
Understand the FAA certification gap employers cite
Some U.S. employers expect FAA Airframe and Powerplant credentials alongside your engineering degree. These are separate from TN eligibility but affect hiring decisions. Clarify with the employer whether FAA credentials are required before the offer stage, not after.
Prepare for CBP questions on dual intent at the border
CBP officers can question whether you intend to remain permanently. Canadians entering at the border should carry proof of home-country ties alongside your support letter and credentials to demonstrate nonimmigrant intent for the aircraft engineer position.

Find Aircraft Engineer JobsAircraft Engineer TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does an aircraft engineer role qualify for TN visa status?
Yes, aircraft engineers qualify under the TN visa's engineer category, which covers aeronautical, aerospace, and mechanical engineering roles. The job duties must require at least a bachelor's degree in engineering, and your degree must correspond to the specific role. Positions focused on general aircraft maintenance without engineering scope typically don't qualify.
How does TN compare to H-1B for aircraft engineer positions?
TN has no annual lottery and no cap for Canadians, so you can start work as soon as CBP approves your entry, often the same day. H-1B requires winning a lottery with a roughly 25% selection rate and waiting until October 1 of the fiscal year. For aircraft engineers who already hold a qualifying degree and a U.S. job offer, TN is a faster, more predictable path.
Where can I find aircraft engineer jobs that offer TN visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate lets you filter specifically for TN visa sponsorship jobs by role and occupation category, so you're only seeing employers already willing to support the process. This is more efficient than applying broadly and discovering late in the process that a hiring team has never filed a TN letter for an engineering position.
What documents does a Canadian aircraft engineer need at the border for TN entry?
You'll need a valid Canadian passport, a detailed employer support letter describing your duties and their connection to your engineering degree, proof of your qualifying degree such as transcripts or a diploma, and evidence of the job offer including compensation terms. CBP reviews all of this at the port of entry and issues your TN status on the spot if approved.
Can a Mexican citizen working as an aircraft engineer use TN visa status?
Yes, but the process differs from the Canadian route. Mexican citizens must apply for a TN visa at a U.S. consulate rather than seeking admission directly at a land border or airport. The same documentary requirements apply, including the employer support letter and degree credentials, but you'll need to schedule a consular interview and receive a visa stamp before traveling to the United States.
