Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as an Electrical Project Manager
Align your credentials to TN Engineer requirements
TN approval for Electrical Project Manager roles hinges on a degree in electrical engineering or a closely related discipline. A general project management degree alone won't satisfy the Engineer category, even with years of field experience.
Target employers with recent visa filing experience
Utilities, electrical contractors, and industrial construction firms have experience sponsoring work visas for engineering roles. Focus your search on employers with recent visa filings, as they're more likely to understand visa sponsorship processes and have established procedures in place, rather than those sponsoring international workers for the first time.
Clarify your TN status before negotiating start dates
Canadians can obtain TN status at the port of entry within hours, but Mexican nationals need a consular appointment that can add weeks. Build that timeline into your offer negotiation so your start date is realistic and doesn't put the employer relationship at risk.
Use Migrate Mate to find roles at visa-experienced employers
Search Migrate Mate to find Electrical Project Manager openings where employers have recent visa filings, indicating experience with work visa sponsorship and making it more likely they'll support your TN application with a written letter of support required at the U.S. port of entry.
Request an employer-prepared offer letter with role specifics
Your TN petition requires a detailed offer letter naming your job title, duties, degree requirement, and duration of employment. Generic offer letters that omit the engineering function regularly trigger CBP questions at the border for Electrical Project Manager applicants.
Renew your TN before major project milestones, not just expiry
TN status is employer-specific and tied to the stated project scope. If you're moving from a completed project to a new contract under the same employer, confirm with USCIS whether an amended petition is needed before your responsibilities formally change.

Find Electrical Project Manager JobsElectrical Project Manager TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does the Electrical Project Manager role qualify for TN visa status?
Yes, Electrical Project Manager positions qualify under the TN Engineer category when the role requires and you hold a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a closely related field. The job duties must reflect engineering judgment, not purely administrative project coordination. Roles that are solely focused on scheduling or budget tracking without an engineering function may not satisfy CBP's review at the border.
How does TN visa sponsorship compare to H-1B for Electrical Project Managers?
TN is far more direct for Canadians because there's no lottery, no annual cap, and you can receive status at a port of entry the same day your employer prepares your support letter. H-1B requires registration in a lottery with no guaranteed selection, a six-month wait, and significantly more employer paperwork. For Mexican nationals, TN still requires a consular appointment but avoids the H-1B lottery entirely.
What does a TN-sponsoring employer actually have to file for this role?
Your employer must prepare a detailed support letter confirming the Electrical Project Manager role, your qualifications, and the offered salary for your work location. For Canadian nationals, that support letter is all you need to present at the U.S. border or port of entry for CBP review. Mexican nationals additionally need to apply at a U.S. consulate with a DS-160 form and attend a visa interview before traveling to the U.S.
Where can I find Electrical Project Manager jobs with confirmed TN sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for Canadian and Mexican professionals seeking U.S. roles with TN visa sponsorship. Instead of filtering through general postings where sponsorship willingness is unclear, Migrate Mate surfaces employers with recent visa filings who are experienced with sponsoring international talent in engineering and construction project management roles.
Can I switch employers as an Electrical Project Manager on TN status?
Yes, but you must have a new TN admission before starting with the new employer. TN status is employer-specific, so your existing status does not transfer. Canadian nationals can initiate the new TN at the U.S. border or a port of entry with a support letter from the incoming employer and proof of Canadian citizenship and qualifications. Working for the new company before completing this step violates your status.
