INTRODUCTION
In this position, you will use CAE tools to drive solutions for Vehicle Hardware Closures/ Structures/ Chassis system components. You will ensure these components meet all government and Rivian internal durability requirements. Collaboration with cross-functional teams will be essential to find optimal solutions that satisfy all Structure system requirements and company goals. This is a fully onsite role based at our engineering Headquarters in Irvine California.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
-
Lead subsystem level Durability CAE analysis of Rivian’s vehicles by developing and executing analysis plans with a focus on Strength and Fatigue of Closures, Body Structure Recovery Zones, Accessory Mounting Zones, Trailer Hitch, Subframes, Knuckles, & Suspension link systems. This involves leading 1-2 concurrent CAE-intensive projects with small cross-functional teams, ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality subsystem simulation results and their effective utilization in a fast paced program cycle while supporting optimal resource utilization.

Deep knowledge of welding metallurgy (MIG, Spot, Laser) and its influence on material properties and fatigue behavior to optimize joint configurations.
-
Knowledge of work flow development using AI/ Machine Learning to accelerate durability CAE cycles and improve predictive accuracy.
-
Ability to communicate clearly to a broad audience through verbal and written methods to facilitate collaboration and drive project success.
-
A deep passion and commitment to continuous improvement and innovation, along with the courage to ask for help when facing challenges.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as a CAE Engineer
Match your degree to the engineering discipline
TN engineer classification requires a degree in the specific engineering field your CAE work covers. A mechanical engineering degree supports FEA and thermal simulation roles, but a general technology degree typically won't. Verify the match before applying.
Target aerospace and automotive OEM employers
Aerospace and automotive original equipment manufacturers file TN petitions for CAE engineers far more routinely than staffing agencies do. Direct hiring from companies like these shortens the sponsorship conversation because their HR teams already understand the TN process.
Request a support letter covering simulation software
Your employer's TN support letter should name the specific CAE tools you'll use, such as ANSYS, Abaqus, or Nastran, and tie them to your engineering degree. CBP officers evaluate this letter on the spot, so vague descriptions of duties create unnecessary friction.
Search for TN-ready roles using Migrate Mate
Filter your job search to employers with active TN visa sponsorship history. Migrate Mate surfaces CAE Engineer roles where companies have already filed for TN professionals, so you're not discovering sponsorship willingness mid-interview.
Prepare for Canadian port of entry approval
Canadian citizens can receive TN status directly at a land border or airport preclearance without a prior visa stamp. Bring your support letter, degree transcripts, and a copy of your offer letter. CBP can approve TN status in a single visit.

Find CAE Engineer JobsCAE Engineer TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a CAE Engineer role qualify for TN visa status?
CAE Engineer positions qualify under the TN engineer category when your job duties involve applied engineering analysis, such as finite element analysis, structural simulation, or computational fluid dynamics, and your degree is in a directly related engineering field like mechanical, aerospace, or civil engineering. A general computer science or technology degree typically doesn't satisfy the specialty occupation standard CBP applies at the border.
How does TN visa sponsorship for CAE Engineers compare to H-1B?
The TN visa has no annual lottery and no numerical cap for Canadian citizens, so there's no wait period and no random selection risk. H-1B registration opens once a year and selection isn't guaranteed. TN renewals are also employer-filed on a rolling basis, giving CAE Engineers in the U.S. more predictable status continuity than the H-1B annual cycle allows.
What does a CAE Engineer's employer need to provide for TN sponsorship?
Your employer needs to prepare a support letter on company letterhead describing your job title, duties, the engineering discipline your work falls under, and the start date. The letter must confirm that your position requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a related engineering field. Canadian citizens present this letter to CBP at the port of entry; Mexican citizens submit it as part of their consular visa application.
Where can I find CAE Engineer jobs that already offer TN visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by TN visa sponsorship history, so you can identify CAE Engineer roles at employers who have already gone through the TN process for engineering professionals. This avoids the common situation where an employer is open to hiring but unfamiliar with TN requirements and delays the offer stage trying to research the process from scratch.
Can Mexican citizens get TN status for CAE Engineer roles the same way Canadians can?
Mexican citizens cannot receive TN status at a port of entry the way Canadian citizens can. They must apply for a TN visa at a U.S. consulate in Mexico before traveling, which requires scheduling a visa interview. The substantive requirements are identical, including the engineering degree match and the employer support letter, but consular processing adds lead time that Canadian citizens don't face.
