Position Overview
We’re looking for a Content Editorial Manager who can design and orchestrate AI-driven workflows that guide multi-channel editorial calendars, streamline publishing operations, and power style guide agents—while still demonstrating strong writing and editing skills.
This role serves as the central architect and orchestrator for how content is reviewed, approved, and ultimately activated across our most critical surfaces—SolarWinds Blog, Content Hub, THWACK Community, Pingdom Blog, email, social, and partner channels. Beyond managing flow, this role sets the strategy for how content shows up, where it lives, and how it evolves over time, laying the groundwork in advance of major launches and campaigns.
You’ll work closely with:
- Your manager, the Director of Marketing, Content
- Cross-functional partners in Creative, SEO/performance, web, social, community, and communications
- Business stakeholders across multiple product lines and regions
This is a hands-on, highly operational role that combines content review ownership, editorial decision-making, calendar ownership, channel orchestration, and AI workflow usage. It is not a people manager role today, but it operates at senior IC altitude, with regular exposure to senior marketing leadership and executives.
Key Responsibilities
AI-Enabled Promotion Patterns & Workflows (45%)
- Partner with AI and operations counterparts to codify and maintain standard multi-surface promotion patterns in our AI + automation stack, keeping the Editorial Promotions Playbook and promotion orchestration agents accurate and usable.
- Use AI tools and agents to draft and refine channel-specific copy and promotion plans, then edit, sequence, and QA outputs for brand voice, legal constraints, and alignment with content review decisions.
- Serve as the human in the loop for AI in promotions, continuously improving prompts, patterns, and workflows based on performance and stakeholder feedback.
Multi-Surface Publishing & Orchestration (35%)
- Design, own, and continuously refine the multi-surface editorial promotions calendar (blog, THWACK, email, social, partner/campaign surfaces), ensuring reviewed content is prioritized, adapted by channel, and published in the right format and sequence.
- Define editorial themes, cadences, and publishing windows that connect launches, campaigns, and always-on content into a coherent, forward-looking editorial plan.
- Own the end-to-end content review workflow for in-scope marketing content, coordinating reviewers, managing priorities, and ensuring SLAs and quality standards are consistently met.
- Orchestrate major launches, campaigns, research, and executive content across web, social, email, community, and other channels so they land as coherent, connected programs rather than one-off posts.
- Ensure every published asset meets basic promo hygiene, including clean tracking, correct metadata and tags, and clear CTAs and cross-links into related journeys.
Analytics & Optimization (20%)
- Partner with analytics, SEO, and marketing operations to track publishing throughput, time-to-publish after content review, cross-channel coverage, and surface-level engagement.
- Use performance insights to refine playbooks and promotion patterns, recommending what to scale back or double down on.
- Deliver concise, regular reporting on what shipped, where it showed up, how it performed, and what we’re changing as a result.
Qualifications
Experience
- 7+ years in B2B content marketing, editorial operations, or digital publishing, ideally in enterprise software, IT, or developer-focused environments.
- Hands-on experience using AI tools in content or marketing workflows (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot, Perplexity, Jasper, Writer, or similar).
- Preferred experience with workflow automation tools (e.g., Zapier, Make, n8n) and managing/refining agentic AI workflows (e.g., via Glean or similar tools).
- Demonstrated ownership of an editorial or promotions calendar and a content review / editorial approval process spanning multiple channels (blog, community, social, email, etc.).
- Experience working with project management tools (ideally Asana) to run content workflows end-to-end.
- Comfort working cross-functionally with senior leaders, legal, product marketing, and regional teams.
Skills & Competencies
AI & Automation Skills
- Builder mindset: you’re excited to help design and refine playbooks, templates, and AI-powered workflows, not just follow them.
- Practical experience using AI tools as part of your workflow, not just experimenting:
- Prompting LLMs to draft channel-specific copy that you then refine.
- Using AI to support research, ideation, and pattern detection.
- Familiarity with at least one workflow automation tool or approach (e.g., n8n, Zapier, Make, or similar) and a willingness to partner closely with technical owners to encode playbooks into automations.
- Comfort acting as a “human quality gate” for AI outputs, especially around brand, safety, and legal constraints.
Core Editorial & Content Skills
- Strong editorial judgment and story sense: you know which assets are worth amplifying, how, and when.
- Hands-on experience with WordPress and other content experience platforms and familiarity with community and social scheduling tools used to publish and maintain content across surfaces.
- Experience running or significantly contributing to a structured content review process (e.g., standards, checklists, feedback loops, and decision-making).
Operations & Analytics
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills; able to manage multiple assets, surfaces, and stakeholders without dropping balls.
- Ability to interpret content performance metrics and translate them into clear decisions (double-down / pivot / stop).
- Experience with basic SEO and web analytics concepts (e.g., search intent, internal linking, UTM discipline, reading dashboards).
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Business, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as an Editorial Manager
Frame your portfolio for specialty occupation
TN eligibility for Editorial Managers hinges on demonstrating the role requires specialized expertise, not general oversight. Organize your portfolio to show content strategy, editorial standards development, and subject-matter depth rather than general management tasks.
Target publishers with cross-border editorial operations
Media companies, academic publishers, and B2B content firms that operate in both Canada or Mexico and the U.S. have existing TN filing experience. Their HR teams already understand the documentation requirements for professional category workers.
Search TN-sponsored Editorial Manager jobs on Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter Editorial Manager openings by employers with active TN visa sponsorship history. This cuts the prospecting time of cold-applying to companies that may not have sponsored TN professionals before.
Verify your degree field aligns with the offer letter
The TN petition requires your degree to connect directly to the editorial role. A journalism, communications, or English degree supports the classification cleanly. If your degree is in an unrelated field, prepare a written explanation showing how your coursework is directly applicable.
Get the employer support letter right before filing
Your employer's support letter must specify your job title, duties, TN professional category, intended start date, and that the position is not permanent. A vague letter is the most common reason CBP officers push back on Editorial Manager TN applications at the border.
Understand the Mexican TN consular path before accepting an offer
Mexican citizens cannot self-petition at the border and must schedule a consular interview. Factor in consulate wait times at the nearest U.S. embassy when negotiating your start date with the employer to avoid starting late.

Find Editorial Manager JobsEditorial Manager TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does an Editorial Manager role qualify for TN visa status?
Yes, Editorial Managers qualify under the USMCA Writers and Authors professional category, provided the role requires specialized knowledge and a relevant degree in journalism, communications, or English. The key is that your offer letter clearly describes editorial duties requiring that specialized expertise, not generalized content or team management alone.
How does TN compare to H-1B for an Editorial Manager position?
TN is faster and more predictable for Editorial Managers. There is no annual lottery, no cap for Canadian citizens, and Canadians can be approved at a port of entry the same day. H-1B requires employer sponsorship through a lottery with roughly a one-in-four selection rate, and approved petitions can't start until October 1 of the fiscal year. For a qualified Canadian or Mexican editorial professional, TN is the more direct path.
What documents does my employer need to provide for a TN Editorial Manager application?
Your employer must provide a signed support letter on company letterhead that includes your job title, a description of duties, the TN professional category being claimed, your anticipated start date, and confirmation the position is temporary and not a step toward permanent residence. Some CBP officers also ask for proof of your employer's legitimacy, such as a business license or recent filing.
Can I find Editorial Manager jobs that already offer TN visa sponsorship?
Yes. Migrate Mate lets you search Editorial Manager roles filtered by employers with TN visa sponsorship history, so you're not spending time applying to companies that have never navigated the process. Focusing on employers with prior TN experience speeds up the offer and filing stages significantly.
Can I switch Editorial Manager employers while on TN status?
Yes, but you cannot begin working for the new employer until a new TN petition is approved. Canadian citizens can apply for a new TN at a port of entry before their first day with the new employer. Mexican citizens must go through the consular process again. There is no grace period that allows you to work for the new employer while the petition is pending.
