Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as a Roofing
Match your credentials to qualifying categories
Roofing roles qualify under TN only if framed as engineering or scientific technician work. A civil or construction engineering degree strengthens your case. Document how your role involves design, structural analysis, or technical oversight, not general labor.
Target employers with active construction licensing
Focus on roofing contractors who hold state contractor licenses and work on commercial or industrial projects. These employers handle permit applications and inspection compliance, which signals the organizational capacity to support TN sponsorship paperwork.
Request a detailed offer letter before filing
Your TN offer letter must specify the professional category, your qualifying degree, job duties tied to that category, and the employment period. A generic offer letter is one of the most common reasons CBP denies entry at the border.
Prepare for port-of-entry review as a Canadian
Canadian citizens apply directly at a U.S. land border or preclearance airport with your offer letter, degree credentials, and TN fee payment. CBP officers evaluate all documents on the spot, so organize every supporting document in a clear, accessible order.
Book your consular appointment early if Mexican
Mexican nationals must apply at a U.S. consulate and schedule a visa interview through the DOS appointment system. Wait times vary by consulate and season, so apply as soon as your employer finalizes the offer to avoid delays in your start date.
Use Migrate Mate to identify sponsoring employers
Finding roofing employers who actively sponsor TN visas is the hardest step. Migrate Mate filters job listings by visa sponsorship availability, so you can focus applications on employers already set up to hire Canadian and Mexican professionals.

Find Roofing JobsRoofing TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does roofing qualify as a TN visa occupation?
Roofing can qualify under the TN visa if the role is classified under the Engineer or Scientific Technician category. The position must require a bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as civil or construction engineering. General roofing labor does not qualify. Employers need to frame the job duties around technical oversight, structural assessment, or project engineering to meet USCIS and CBP standards.
How does TN compare to H-1B for roofing professionals?
TN has no lottery and no annual cap for Canadians, making it a more predictable path than H-1B for roofing roles that qualify. H-1B requires employer sponsorship through USCIS, a petition process, and selection in the annual lottery, which takes months and is not guaranteed. TN approvals for Canadians happen at the port of entry, often the same day, provided documentation is complete.
What documents does my employer need to provide for my TN application?
Your employer must provide a formal offer letter stating your job title, the TN category you are applying under, a description of duties that demonstrates specialty occupation work, your qualifying credentials, and the duration of employment. Some CBP officers also ask for the employer's business license or project contracts to verify the legitimacy and scope of the role.
Where can I find roofing employers who sponsor TN visas?
Most general job boards do not filter by visa sponsorship type, which makes it time-consuming to identify suitable employers. Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search, letting you filter roofing and construction roles by TN visa sponsorship so you can apply directly to employers who are already prepared to hire Canadian and Mexican professionals.
Can I renew my TN visa if I stay with the same roofing employer?
Yes. TN status is granted in increments of up to three years and can be renewed indefinitely as long as you maintain a qualifying job offer and the employer confirms continued need. Renewals follow the same process as initial applications. Canadian citizens can renew at the border; Mexican nationals must return to a U.S. consulate for each renewal.
