- Ensure consistent flowable fill/backfill quality and compliance with project specs
- Track job costs, production rates, and productivity metrics
- Partner with leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and cost controls
- Develop operational workflows, safety standards, and quality processes
- Support crew expansion, equipment additions, and geographic growth
Required Skills/Abilities:
General
- 5+ years in concrete operations, underground utilities, or volumetric batching
- Hands-on experience with volumetric trucks or mobile batch plants

- Ability to work independently and make field-level decisions
- Experience coordinating multiple crews in active construction environments
Preferred
- Previous startup or greenfield operations experience
- Exposure to P&L tracking or job cost management
- Experience supporting fiber, telecom, or municipal infrastructure work
- CDL or familiarity working alongside CDL drivers
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree is typically preferred in:
- Construction Management
- Civil Engineering
- Architecture

- Typical early roles include:
- Assistant Project Manager
- Field Engineer
- Estimator
- Scheduler
Physical Requirements:

Document your trade credentials before applying
CBP officers assess your credentials at the port of entry for Canadians. Gather certificates from provincial apprenticeship bodies, union cards, and letters confirming journeyman status before you target any employer.
Target union contractors with federal project history
General contractors on federally funded infrastructure projects are already familiar with employment verification and government compliance requirements, making them far more likely to support the TN visa application process without pushback.
Clarify specialty occupation status with your employer
Concrete finishing sits at the boundary between trade and specialty occupation under TN rules. Ask your prospective employer to document your specific duties, decorative or structural finishing specializations, and the technical nature of the role.
Use Migrate Mate to find sponsoring employers
Sorting through employers willing to sponsor TN visas for trade roles takes time. Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically for TN-eligible positions, so you connect with employers already set up for the process.
Prepare for Mexican nationals' consular filing timeline
Unlike Canadians, Mexican nationals cannot self-petition at the port of entry. Factor in U.S. consulate appointment wait times in Mexico when negotiating your start date with the employer, since processing can take several weeks.

Find Concrete Finisher JobsConcrete Finisher TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Concrete Finisher role qualify for a TN visa?
Concrete finishing can qualify under the TN category for professionals, but the role must be framed around specialized skills rather than general construction labor. Your employer needs to document that the position requires technical expertise, such as decorative concrete work, structural finishing, or precision flatwork, and that you hold credentials or training specific to those duties.
How does the TN visa process differ for Canadian versus Mexican Concrete Finishers?
Canadian citizens can apply for TN status directly at a U.S. port of entry with their offer letter and credential documents. Mexican nationals must schedule a visa interview at a U.S. consulate in Mexico, which adds weeks to the timeline. Both nationalities need an employer-sponsored offer letter and a role that meets TN specialty occupation standards for their profession.
How does the TN visa compare to H-1B for Concrete Finisher roles?
The TN visa has no lottery and no annual cap for Canadians, so there's no waiting for a selection cycle that may never come. H-1B requires an employer petition, USCIS adjudication, and lottery entry. For trade and finishing roles, TN is a faster path when the position qualifies, though the specialty occupation threshold must still be met.
Where can I find Concrete Finisher jobs that offer TN visa sponsorship?
Most general job boards don't filter for TN visa sponsorship, which makes it difficult to identify employers already set up for the process. Migrate Mate is built specifically for TN and USMCA visa roles, letting you search for Concrete Finisher positions where employers are prepared to sponsor your status from the start.
What documents does a Concrete Finisher need to present at the border or consulate?
You need a valid job offer letter that describes your duties in specialty occupation terms, and credential documents such as apprenticeship certificates, union journeyman cards, or provincial trade authority records. Canadian citizens present these documents at the port of entry; Mexican nationals bring them to their U.S. consulate interview along with a valid passport. Your employer may also provide a support letter outlining the role and your qualifications.
