Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as a Site Supervisor
Verify your credential matches Engineer classification
TN sponsorship for Site Supervisors depends on the role qualifying under the Engineer category. Confirm your degree is in civil, structural, or a related engineering field before applying, not construction management, which CBP officers scrutinize more closely.
Target employers with active construction contracts
General contractors and infrastructure firms with federally funded projects are more accustomed to TN documentation requirements. Look for postings that list an engineering degree as required, not preferred, since that language directly supports your specialty occupation argument.
Get your foreign credentials evaluated before offers
If your engineering degree is from a Canadian or Mexican institution, have a NACES-member evaluation completed in advance. CBP and consular officers may question equivalency on the spot, and having a credential evaluation letter eliminates that delay.
Use Migrate Mate to find sponsoring employers
Search Migrate Mate to identify U.S. employers actively hiring Site Supervisors with TN visa sponsorship. The platform filters roles by visa type, so you're not cold-applying to companies unfamiliar with the TN process or unwilling to prepare the required support letter.
Prepare a role-specific support letter before crossing
Your employer's TN support letter must describe your duties in engineering terms, not general supervision language. CBP officers at the port of entry make real-time decisions, so vague language like 'oversees workers' can trigger a denial that a detailed engineering scope prevents.
Understand Mexican nationals face a separate consular process
Unlike Canadians who can obtain TN status at the border, Mexican nationals must schedule a consular interview and receive a visa stamp before entering. Factor in consulate wait times when negotiating your start date with a prospective employer.

Find Site Supervisor JobsSite Supervisor TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Site Supervisor role qualify for a TN visa?
It depends on how the role is defined. Site Supervisor positions qualify under the TN Engineer category only when the job requires applying engineering knowledge and you hold a relevant engineering degree. Roles framed around general labor supervision without engineering scope routinely face CBP scrutiny. The offer letter and support documentation must connect your duties explicitly to engineering principles.
How does TN visa sponsorship compare to H-1B for Site Supervisors?
TN is faster and more predictable for Canadian citizens. There is no lottery, no annual cap, and Canadians can receive TN status at a port of entry on the same day. H-1B requires surviving a random lottery and waiting until October 1 of the fiscal year to start work. For Mexican nationals, TN still requires consular processing but avoids the lottery entirely, making it a more reliable path than H-1B for qualifying roles.
Where can I find Site Supervisor jobs with TN visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate lets you search specifically for Site Supervisor roles where employers have indicated TN visa sponsorship. That filtering saves significant time compared to applying broadly and discovering late in the process that a company has no experience with TN documentation. Starting your search on a platform built around visa sponsorship reduces the risk of pursuing roles that stall at the offer stage.
Can a Canadian Site Supervisor apply for TN status at the border without a job offer in hand?
No. TN status requires an active, employer-specific job offer and a signed support letter at the time you present yourself to CBP. You cannot enter speculatively and negotiate terms afterward. The CBP officer will review your support letter, your credentials, and your passport on the spot, so all documentation must reflect the actual role and employer before you travel.
What happens if my TN application is denied at the port of entry?
A denial at the port of entry means you are turned back the same day. CBP officers typically issue a brief explanation, which your employer can use to revise the support letter and reapply. There is no formal appeal process for TN denials at the border. Canadians can reapply immediately with corrected documentation, while Mexican nationals must return to the consulate and reschedule.
