Automation Technician Jobs in Dallas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an automation technician job in Dallas?
Focus on Dallas employers in industrial manufacturing, food processing, and distribution, which are the heaviest hirers in the area, particularly in the Metroplex suburbs of Irving, Carrollton, and Garland. Candidates with hands-on PLC programming experience, specifically Allen-Bradley or Siemens platforms, stand out in this market. Familiarity with conveyor systems, robotics integration, or SCADA gives you a concrete edge over generalist applicants.
Which companies hire automation technicians in Dallas?
Companies currently hiring automation technicians in Dallas include Photon, Goldman Sachs, and Deloitte, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Dallas draws a mix of large industrial manufacturers, regional distribution centers, and contract automation firms that staff both project-based and permanent technician roles.
Are there remote automation technician jobs in Dallas?
Yes, though they are uncommon since most automation technician work requires on-site equipment access. About 29% of automation technician openings tied to Dallas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, typically covering roles focused on remote monitoring, SCADA system oversight, or technical support rather than hands-on maintenance. Full-remote options are most realistic for technicians with strong software and controls backgrounds.
How can I get an automation technician job in Dallas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Dallas is through a maintenance technician or equipment operator role at one of the area's many food manufacturing or consumer goods plants in Garland or Carrollton, where employers often promote from within. Community college programs at Eastfield College or North Lake College offer automation and industrial electronics certificates that Dallas-area manufacturers actively recognize when screening entry-level candidates.
Which industries hire the most automation technicians in Dallas?
Dallas automation technician roles concentrate in Technology & Software, Investment & Asset Management, and Consulting & Professional Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Dallas's dense cluster of distribution infrastructure, food and beverage plants, and electronics assembly facilities in the outer Metroplex creates consistent local demand for technicians who can keep automated lines running.
