Senior Level Automotive Technology Instructor Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a senior level automotive technology instructor job?
Employers at this level look for instructors who have moved beyond delivering curriculum to shaping it. Candidates with ASE Master Technician certification, experience training other instructors or developing program standards, and a portfolio of measurable student or apprentice outcomes stand out. Demonstrating that you have led a shop, a department, or a full program gives hiring managers confidence that you can own outcomes, not just participate in them.
Which companies hire senior level automotive technology instructors?
Companies hiring senior level automotive technology instructors right now include Gee Automotive Companies, Hyundai Motor Company, and Lithia & Driveway, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Hiring at this level tends to come from community colleges, vocational school systems, large dealership groups with internal training academies, and OEMs running regional technical education centers.
Are there remote senior level automotive technology instructor jobs?
Yes, though the role is largely hands-on by nature, a meaningful share of openings include remote or hybrid components such as curriculum development, online theory instruction, or program coordination. About 6% of senior level automotive technology instructor openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, with fully remote positions most common in curriculum design and training management roles that do not require shop floor supervision.
What makes an automotive technology instructor role senior level?
A senior level automotive technology instructor role is defined by scope and ownership rather than just years on the job. Senior instructors typically own the full instructional program, set technical standards for the lab or shop environment, evaluate and mentor junior instructors, and serve as the primary liaison between industry partners and the institution. They are expected to identify curriculum gaps, lead accreditation efforts, and drive student completion and placement outcomes.
Which industries hire the most senior level automotive technology instructors?
Senior level automotive technology instructor roles concentrate in Automotive, Technology & Software, and Energy, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. These sectors drive hiring at this level because they operate formal training programs, maintain ASE-accredited facilities, or face ongoing technician pipeline pressures that require experienced educators to develop and sustain a qualified workforce.
