Physical Requirements
This position requires intermittently sitting at a computer workstation for extended periods of time; and performing tasks with repetitive motions (such as typing); and occasionally standing or walking with objects weighing up to 10 pounds; and lifting, pushing, and/or pulling objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Also involves some exposure to risk of injury from moving, lifting, or positioning patients, equipment, or materials; and exposure to hazardous chemicals and fumes including waste, cuts/punctures, and blood-borne or airborne pathogens.
Shift
3rd shift; varying hours (e.g., 7 pm – 7 am, 9 pm – 7 am) 7 days on/7 days off with five 12-hour shifts and two 10-hour shifts per on week. Includes some weekend and holiday requirements.
Job Summary
Provides pharmaceutical care to patients in an inpatient hospital setting; compounds and dispenses medications upon receiving written (i.e., electronic) orders from physicians; provides supervision of technical staff and confirms the quality and accuracy of dispensed products; maintains inventory and records on narcotics and other forms of drugs; reviews and interprets prescriptions and drug profiles to ensure appropriate drug therapy has been prescribed and drug interactions are considered; and contacts and confers with physicians and other practitioners to optimize drug therapy. Duties may include active participation in patient care rounds, review of patient profiles, provision of pharmacokinetics, and response to emergent situations (e.g., cardiopulmonary arrest).

Strong clinical skills; knowledge of inpatient drug distribution and dispensing; ability to prioritize; excellent communication skills; team mentality; desire to teach; and motivation are required to excel in this position.

Preferred Education/Experience
PharmD and ASHP PGY1 residency and/or PGY2 specialty residency preferred.
