Commercial Sales & ServiceThe Commercial Financial Analyst will manage a commercial client portfolio within the Dealership Finance – Auto Industry segment. The portfolio will consist of 10–15 clients with total commercial credit exposure exceeding $500 million.
In this role, the Commercial Financial Analyst analyzes financial and credit information to support lending decisions for new and existing commercial banking relationships. The analyst provides credit recommendations in alignment with bank policies and risk management standards while maintaining a strong client service environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Analysis
- Perform Income Statement, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow analysis, including cash flow/debt service coverage and operating leverage analysis.
- Spread financials and support underwriting processes with detailed financial insights.
- Risk & Return Modeling
- Utilize the bank’s proprietary risk model to assess borrower default and repayment risk.
- Apply the bank’s proprietary return model to evaluate client return on allocated capital.
- Ongoing Portfolio Management
- Track monthly financial statements, covenant compliance certificates, and borrowing base reports.
- Perform periodic covenant compliance testing.
- Complete annual reviews to assess financial performance and covenant adherence.
- Underwriting & Deal Support
- Collaborate with the deal team to prepare underwriting for new business opportunities.
- Structure and support renewals, amendments, and loan requests aligned with client needs and bank/risk policies.
- Credit Policy & Risk Management
- Minimize risk exposure by adhering to credit policies, regulatory standards, and operational guidelines.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education – Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Business Administration.
- Training – Completion of a Commercial Credit Underwriting Program.
- Underwriting Experience – Minimum 2 to 3 years of relevant Commercial Credit Underwriting experience within a commercial banking environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Education – MBA in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Financial Analysis, or Commercial Banking.
- Underwriting Experience – Experience within Dealer Finance commercial lending.
Technical & Skill Requirements
- High proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Salary :
$54,000.00 - $99,600.00Pay Type:

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
