Qualifications and Skills:
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Texas
- Graduate of an approved school of professional nursing
- Current CPR certification preferred, but not required
- Minimum of one year of experience in an acute care setting preferred
- Experience performing heart, lung, and full physical assessments preferred
- Strong clinical judgment and critical thinking skills
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Adhere to the Texas Nursing Practice Act, Board of Nursing rules, and all applicable regulations
- Provide comprehensive nursing care using assessments, diagnoses, and individualized care plans
- Perform and document patient assessments, including OASIS
- Monitor patient conditions and communicate changes to physicians and care team
- Administer medications and treatments per physician orders
- Initiate preventative and rehabilitative nursing procedures
- Develop and implement care plans and discharge planning
- Supervise and delegate care to LVNs and home health aides
- Conduct supervisory visits for aides at least every 14 days
- Coordinate care with interdisciplinary teams and community resources
- Clarify and verify questionable physician orders
- Participate in oncall rotation
- Assist with staff training and orientation
- Maintain compliance with agency policies
- Perform additional duties as assigned
