Acute Rescue employs Special Event Paramedics with a passion for customer service, and a heart for helping others at all of our locations. Everyone on our team has a role to play in providing great customer service and quality medical care, so you will get to use your excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as accuracy in this demanding role. Acute Rescue's Special Event EMTs provide advanced life support (ALS) medical care at assigned special events to ensure the safety and well-being of event participants, staff, and spectators. This role requires strong clinical skills, situational awareness, and the ability to work independently or as part of an event medical team in dynamic environments.
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS
A Paramedic has certification and/or licensure as a Paramedic and provides Advanced-level life support.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Paramedic
- Provides and directs efficient and effective medical care to the ill and injured
- Provide ALS-level patient assessment, treatment, and transport as needed during special events
- Operates emergency vehicles and transports patients to appropriate medical facility
- Communicates effectively with necessary parties including dispatch, hospital, police and fire personnel
- Complete accurate and timely patient care documentation
- Maintains records of vehicles, supplies, training and daily work
- Perform standby duties including mobile patrols, fixed medical posts, or ambulance-based assignments
- Respond to medical emergencies within the event footprint in a timely and professional manner
- Maintain readiness of medical equipment, medications, and response vehicles
- Perform medical standby duties including mobile, fixed post, or ambulance-based assignments
- Assist with crowd safety assessments and proactive medical presence
- Maintain a professional demeanor while interacting with the public, event staff, and clients
- Ability to function independently with minimal supervision
- Strong situational awareness and risk assessment skills
- Excellent documentation and patient communication skills
- Ability to remain calm and professional in fast-paced or high-stress situations
- Flexibility and adaptability to changing event needs
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Must possess and maintain State Licensure as a Paramedic certification (Idaho or ability to obtain)
- Current CPR, ACLS, and PALS certifications
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
- Ability to work variable shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Knowledge of rescue and emergency medical equipment
- Skill in performing technical medical skills with a high degree of accuracy
- Skill in understanding and effectively dealing with emotional and medical needs of patients
- Ability to perform basic maintenance of rescue and medical equipment
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions and orders
- Ability to maintain a professional attitude when representing ART
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with ART staff and facilities they serve
- Ability to safely drive and operate emergency vehicles and retain Emergency Vehicle Operations Course training
- Regular and punctual attendance is required to ensure timely and quality emergency response services.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Previous special event, standby, or field EMS experience
- Experience working in large crowds, festivals, sporting events, or public gatherings
- Familiarity with radio communications and local EMS systems
- This position has been designated safety sensitive and therefore is subject to random drug testing;
- EMTs must wear Department uniforms while on duty and be responsible for the maintenance and cleaning of both dress and safety uniforms, as well as all issued equipment.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Paramedics are required to operate emergency medical vehicles, move medical equipment and extract injured persons from a wide variety of situations involving vehicular, industrial and residential accidents, injuries or illness
- At times the work requires movement over various types of terrain (hilly, steep, rocky, rough, and/or wet/ slippery surfaces)
- Paramedics must be able to carry or help carry someone from the site of illness or injury to the mode of transportation (vehicle/helicopter) and attend to patient while in transport
- Must be able to lift, carry, push, and/or pull up to 125 pounds (250 pounds with assistance)
- Paramedics must see, hear and communicate with the patient in order to perform a physical assessment
- Must be able to stand, walk, and remain mobile for extended periods
- Must be to work in varying weather conditions and crowded environments
