PURPOSE AND SCOPE
We are seeking a highly capable and detail-oriented Manufacturing Technician to join our production team. This role is responsible for operating, troubleshooting, and maintaining manufacturing equipment, supporting robotic welding operations, and ensuring product quality.
This position plays a critical role in improving efficiency, safety, and overall production performance. The ideal candidate brings strong technical aptitude, hands-on manufacturing experience, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
Key Functions
- Optimize production flow
- Troubleshoot manufacturing equipment
- Support robotic welding operations
- Diagnose assembly issues
- Utilize root cause analysis to solve production problems
- Participate in Gemba production walks
Responsibilities:
Production & Assembly
- Set up and operate machinery by positioning parts, loading materials, and entering specifications
- Perform manufacturing and assembly tasks, including fabrication and welding of fabrics
- Safely start, operate, and shut down production equipment
Quality Control
- Conduct inspections to ensure product functionality and appearance meet standards
- Identify defects and ensure compliance with customer specifications
Equipment Maintenance
- Identify and prioritize equipment maintenance needs
- Assist the maintenance department with preventative maintenance activities
- Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs
- Troubleshoot equipment issues
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs and escalate major issues as needed
Process Improvement
- Monitor and adjust machine settings to improve efficiency
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, 5S)
Documentation & Compliance
- Follow all SOPs, safety policies, and OSHA regulations
Team Collaboration
- Train and mentor new employees
- Partner with engineering, quality, and other teams to meet production goals
Requirements
Education
- High school diploma or GED required
- Associate’s degree in manufacturing, Industrial Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or related field preferred
Experience
- 3–5 years of manufacturing or production experience required
- Experience with fabrication, welding, and assembly (especially fabric welding) strongly preferred
Technical Skills
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Ability to read engineering drawings and blueprints
- Proficiency with measurement tools and metrology equipment
- Ability to accurately read a tape measure
- Familiarity with ERP systems
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
Soft Skills
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities
- Excellent organization and time management
- Effective communication and teamwork skills
Certifications (Preferred)
- MSSC Certified Production Technician or similar industry certifications
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods (8+ hours per shift)
- Frequent lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 50 lbs
- Work involves bending, kneeling, reaching, and repetitive motions
- Manufacturing environment with varying temperatures and noise levels
- Required use of PPE, including safety glasses, gloves, steel-toed boots, and hearing protection
