Day in the life
You start the morning reviewing dispatch tickets, confirming parts on your truck, and coordinating with the Service Manager. You head out in a company vehicle to a customer site to install a new commercial washer, complete start-up and testing, and train the team on safe operation. In the afternoon, you diagnose an electrical fault on a dryer, order the replacement parts, document your work, and close the ticket. If an urgent call comes in, you pivot, respond on-site, and escalate key findings to the Service Manager while recommending process improvements for the team.
Role purpose
Work with our Service team to install, service, and repair commercial laundry equipment for internal and external clients, following Alliance Laundry Systems quality standards, policies, and procedures.
What you will do
- Install, repair, start up, and operate commercial laundry equipment and related parts in line with company standards, techniques, and safety practices.
- Diagnose issues accurately; share findings, recommendations, and usage instructions with customers after installation and testing.
- Support preventive maintenance; remove parts for repair and place or assist with orders for worn or faulty components.
- Disassemble and reassemble equipment and subassemblies for maintenance or repair.
- Research and help place parts orders; review work orders and invoices to ensure timely procurement so deadlines are met.
- Maintain accurate truck inventory and submit clear, timely reports of work performed and company expenses.
- Travel within the service territory to perform on-site repairs, troubleshooting, and installations; respond to emergency or unscheduled maintenance requests assigned by the Service Manager.
- Communicate escalations effectively to the Service Manager and contribute to team best practices and process improvement.
- Perform additional tasks needed to keep department operations efficient.
Education and experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 3+ years of experience in commercial, military, industrial, or manufacturing equipment repair preferred; equivalent education/training/experience considered.
- Knowledge of single-phase electric power equipment required.
- Experience with telephone and email/ticketing dispatch customer support preferred.
- Proficient with MS Outlook, Word, and Excel preferred.
Skills and abilities
- Strong mechanical aptitude; capable of identifying, diagnosing, troubleshooting, and resolving mechanical and electrical problems; able to read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings.
- Highly organized and detail-focused; able to self-manage workload and multiple projects while meeting deadlines.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication; professional, positive, and enthusiastic across all levels.
- Resilient and comfortable with ambiguity and change.
- Self-starter with a strong work ethic, proactive mindset, initiative, and tenacity.
Travel
- Travel is limited to the service territory; some overnight travel required.
Standard and physical requirements
- Work involves sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, squatting, stooping, bending, climbing, and manual dexterity.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs frequently; assistive devices provided for heavier items.
- Regularly required to talk and hear; frequent hands-on work; computer-based tasks with periods of sitting; close vision and ability to adjust focus.
- Valid driver's license required; company vehicle may be provided.
- Clean Motor Vehicle Record required.
