AlphaGraphics West Valley is hiring a Graphic Designer / Prepress Specialist to prepare customer artwork for print production and create original design work for signs, wall graphics, vehicle wraps, and other printed products.
This role is initially about 70% production design and prepress and 30% creative design. Over time, the goal is to expand the creative portion as the person develops and business demand grows.
We are open to strong entry-level designers through experienced print designers. The right person understands design fundamentals, has practical print knowledge, pays close attention to details, and can manage work with limited oversight.
What You'll Do
- Review customer artwork and make files ready for digital cut-sheet and wide-format production
- Correct size, layout, bleeds, margins, resolution, fonts, color settings, cut paths, and other production details
- Create proofs, complete revisions, and release approved files to production
- Design large-format signage, wall graphics, vehicle wraps, and related print materials
- Communicate directly with customers whose projects you are actively working on
- Occasionally join sales conversations to provide creative or technical expertise
- Support production and internal team members with design and file-preparation questions
- Manage your assigned queue and raise concerns early when quality, timing, or specifications are at risk
What We're Looking For
- Strong design fundamentals: hierarchy, typography, spacing, color, layout, and readability
- Working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop
- Basic print knowledge, including bleed, margins, image resolution, vector versus raster artwork, and print color
- Ability to explain design decisions and work from customer goals rather than personal preference
- Strong attention to detail and consistent quality-check habits
- Ability to work independently and communicate professionally
Preferred Experience
- About one year of print design, prepress, sign, or production design experience
- Experience preparing files for digital cut-sheet or wide-format production
- Experience designing signage, wall graphics, or vehicle wraps
- Familiarity with cut paths, spot colors, imposition, RIP software, or commercial print workflows
Schedule & Work Arrangement
- Full-time, primarily Monday-Friday
- Standard business or manufacturing-aligned hours
- Primarily onsite at the start
- Potential to move to a hybrid schedule after demonstrating strong judgment, reliability, and independent work management
- Overtime as needed
