Description
American Traveler is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist with a minimum of 2 years of OR experience for a hospital Main OR position requiring strong orthopedic scrub skills.
Details
- Work in a hospital Main OR with 13 ORs plus one procedure/cysto room, averaging 45 cases per day
- Diverse surgical caseload including orthopedic (THA, TKA, shoulder arthroplasty, arthroscopy, fractures), spine (cervical/lumbar fusions, microdiscectomies, laminectomies), general surgery, colorectal, breast, podiatry, urology, robotic-assisted procedures, GYN, and plastics
- Robotic cases include cholecystectomies, appendectomies, hernias, colectomies, nephrectomies, prostatectomies, and lobectomies
- 12-hour day shifts, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM, 36 hours per week
- On-call requirements include 3–4 weeknight calls per 6-week schedule (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) and 1–2 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule (Saturday or Sunday, day or night)
- Holidays are covered on a call rotation, which travelers are included in
- No floating required
- EMR: Epic
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of OR experience in a relevant specialty (RN, CST, CVOR RN, or CVOR CST)
- Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology education program required prior to start
- Strong scrub experience across multiple specialties including orthopedic, general, urology, robotic, GYN, colon, breast, spine, podiatry, and plastics; orthopedic proficiency is especially important
- BLS certification required
- National certification (CST) preferred
- License required if applicable
- Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
- Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; local candidates are not accepted
- Facility is a 337-bed hospital with no trauma designation, a Chest Pain Center, and a Stroke Center
- Department is supported by 6 OR assistants on weekdays who assist with room turnovers, stocking, patient positioning, and operating surgical tables, along with a charge nurse, receptionist/HUC, and 24/7 anesthesia/CRNA coverage
- Orientation for the Main OR is 1 week (five 8-hour shifts); CVOR orientation is 2 weeks
- A clinical interview with the manager is conducted prior to an offer being extended
- Hospital scrubs are provided; parking is free
- Former employees who held a permanent position at any AHSE facility must have been separated for at least 1 year before being considered
