Our Ben & Jerry's Scoop Shop in the heart of Playhouse Square serves up euphoric ice cream experiences to theatergoers, downtown workers, families, and visitors from all over Northeast Ohio. About the Role
We're seeking an enthusiastic, hands-on Assistant Manager of Operations to help lead our team and keep the shop running smoothly day to day. This is a great opportunity for an experienced shift leader from the fast food or quick-service industry who's ready to take on more responsibility and step into a management role.
You'll work side by side with the General Manager to lead shifts, coach team members, manage inventory, and deliver an outstanding guest experience — all while scooping up plenty of fun along the way.
What You'll Do
- Lead and motivate a team of scoopers during shifts, setting the tone for energy, hospitality, and teamwork
- Open and/or close the shop, including cash handling, register reconciliation, and daily reporting
- Train, coach, and develop team members on service standards, food safety, and shop procedures
- Assist with scheduling, shift coverage, and labor management
- Monitor inventory levels, place orders, and receive deliveries
- Ensure the shop meets all food safety, cleanliness, and health code standards
- Handle guest questions and concerns with a positive, solution-focused attitude
- Support catering orders, special events, and busy pre/post-show rushes at Playhouse Square
- Step in wherever needed — scooping, making waffle cones, running the register, you name it
What We're Looking For
- 2+ years of experience in fast food, quick-service, or food service, ideally as a shift leader, team lead, or supervisor
- A natural leader who's enthusiastic, dependable, and able to rally a team during busy rushes
- Strong communication skills and a genuinely friendly, guest-first attitude
- Experience with cash handling and POS systems
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays (our busiest times often align with Playhouse Square show schedules)
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs
- Food handler certification (or willingness to obtain — ServSafe a plus)
- Must be 18 years or older
- Must have a valid driver's license and mode of transportation
