Position Overview:
Bethany College is seeking an Adjunct Studio Flute Instructor to provide one-on-one studio instruction to undergraduate music majors and non-majors. The Fine Arts and Humanities Division at Bethany College includes programs in Music, Art, English, and Religion. The division consists of eleven full-time faculty members who collaborate to provide a supportive and rigorous educational environment.

Essential Functions:
- Teach private flute lessons to assigned students
- Prepare students for:
- Degree recitals
- Departmental recitals
- Masterclasses
- End-of-semester performance juries
- Attend student juries and offer performance feedback
- Communicate regularly with music faculty and division leadership regarding student progress and instructional planning

Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Music or related field
- Good communication skills, organized, and able to perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to communicate effectively to a variety of audiences, including students, parents, faculty, staff, alumni, administration, and the community-at-large.
- Ability to handle multiple projects/assignments concurrently and be very results-oriented.
- Highly motivated and works well both independently and in a team environment.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor and motivate students.
- Regular attendance required
Preferred:
- Master of Music (MM) degree in performance or pedagogy
- Prior experience teaching applied lessons at the college level
- Bilingual in Spanish is a plus, some knowledge of the Spanish language skills is a plus
Computer Competencies:
- Functional knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office
- Basic personal computer operation
- Willingness to adapt to a changing technology environment, i.e. updates, security, and new versions
- Ability to use multiple Internet browsers
- Competent in email and document management

- Work performed indoors is with ambient room temperatures, lighting, and traditional classroom equipment
