Purpose of Position and Scope of Responsibility: The Assistant Football Coach – Defensive Line supports the Head Football Coach in all aspects of the football program with primary responsibility for coaching the defensive line unit. The position exists to develop student-athletes academically, athletically, and personally while helping the program achieve competitive success consistent with the mission, values, and policies of the university and governing athletic associations.
The Football Equipment Manager is responsible for the management, maintenance, inventory, and distribution of athletic equipment and apparel for the university's football program. This position ensures that all equipment is safe, properly maintained, and available for practices, competitions, and team travel while supporting the daily operational needs of the football program.
Works as needed; includes early mornings, nights, weekends and overnight travel.
Principal Accountabilities/Responsibilities for Defensive Line Coach:
Coach and instruct defensive line student-athletes during practices, games, conditioning sessions, and meetings.
Teach position-specific techniques, assignments, and schemes consistent with the program’s defensive philosophy.
Assist with recruiting qualified prospective student athletes, including evaluations, communication, campus visits, and retention efforts.
Participate in game preparation, film analysis, scouting reports, and strategic planning.
Monitor academic progress, conduct, and personal development of assigned student-athletes.
Assist with scheduling, camps, fundraising activities, and community engagement initiatives as assigned.
Ensure compliance with university policies and all applicable conference and athletic department regulations.

Principal Accountabilities/Responsibilities for Equipment Manager:
Manage the issuance, collection, fitting, and storage of football equipment and uniforms.
Maintain accurate inventory records for all football equipment, apparel, and supplies.
Inspect, clean, repair, and replace equipment to ensure safety and compliance with manufacturer and governing association standards.
Coordinate laundering and maintenance of uniforms, practice gear, and related equipment.
Prepare and transport equipment for home and away contests, practices, and team events.
Organize locker rooms, equipment rooms, and storage areas to maintain a clean, secure, and efficient environment.
Coordinate equipment purchasing, receiving, and vendor relationships within approved budgets.
Assist coaches with equipment needs during practices and competitions.
Monitor equipment usage and recommend replacement schedules for worn or damaged items.
Ensure proper fitting of helmets, shoulder pads, and other protective equipment.
Maintain records related to equipment inventory, warranties, and repairs.
Assist with setup and breakdown of practice fields and game-day operations.
Follow all University safety policies, conference regulations, and applicable risk management procedures.

Work requires moderate physical exertion (up to 50 pounds) on a continuous basis (over 50% of time); or heavy physical exertion (over 50 pounds) on a frequent basis (up to 50% of time).

Work involves frequent exposure to unpleasant working conditions or undesirable elements, which may involve exposure to a variety of elements which are potentially hazardous or harmful which require exercise of well-defined precautions for protection from injury or illness.
