Budget Title: Admissions Assistant (SL-2)
Salary: $51,261
Binghamton University seeks an Admissions Communications Specialist to join the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. In this role, you will support and facilitate key projects and daily operations related to the strategic outreach and marketing efforts to prospective students, families, and school counselors.
The ideal candidate is organized, possesses a technical aptitude, and has an eye for layout and design. You do not need to be a professional coder for this role; we are looking for someone who can utilize and manipulate existing HTML templates and components to create impactful, visually appealing email layouts, and who is eager to learn. Equal importance is placed on operational skills, including project tracking, inventory management, and cross-functional collaboration.
Responsibilities include:
- Utilize, manipulate, and maintain existing email templates and components within the CRM (Slate) to create impactful email layouts that highlight key content
- Monitor progress for communications and marketing materials to ensure all timelines, benchmarks, and due dates are met
- Update and maintain detailed communications calendars, archives, and marketing inventory, and facilitate ordering processes as needed
- Build and update queries, registration forms, events, and basic portals within Slate
- Write, update, and edit engaging copy for various admissions communications to diverse audiences
- Ensure quality control through testing, review, and continuous auditing
- Stay current with higher education marketing trends and Slate-specific best practices to identify new opportunities and efficiencies
- Supervise a student assistant
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Comfort with technology and a willingness to learn basic HTML/CSS for email template manipulation
- An eye for visual hierarchy, layout, and how to structure information
- Attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple overlapping project deadlines independently
- Demonstrated analytical thinking and a proactive approach to troubleshooting
- Interpersonal skills to work successfully within a team
- Ability to work occasional weekends to support major on-campus recruitment events
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree
- At least one year of experience in marketing, project coordination, design, or similar role
- Experience tracking tasks, inventory, or projects from start to finish
- Familiarity with standard office software and comfortable learning new digital platforms or marketing tools
Preferred:
- Experience with visual layout design or digital email creation
- Experience using the Slate CRM platform (or similar database/marketing automation tool)
- Experience working within higher education admissions or enrollment marketing
