Role Purpose
Oversees the daily clinical operations for BJC’s Central Staffing office. Upholds the importance of delivering standardized and reliable care for the clients in our community. Implements processes and programs with staffing offices to ensure clinical staffing is optimized across the system; collaborates closely with the Program Manager for the Central Staffing Office and the BJC Transfer Center to ensure adequate staff to meet capacity demands; and operationalizing a system-wide clinical float pool to support staffing needs, improve workforce retention and decrease agency costs. Is flexible and meets the ever-changing demands of healthcare. Must be forward thinking and able to change course quickly as system needs arise.
Responsibilities
- Partners with HSO staffing offices across the system to understand resource needs and assist with problem solving.
- Works with Program Manager to implement recommendations for standardized departmental staffing, and expense budgets for clinical operations across BJC. Monitors outcomes with staffing and adjusts as needed to meet the clinical demands. Is customer centric and provides consultation with unit-based leaders on scheduling and makes recommendations as appropriate. Forecasts staffing needs and is pro-active in filling requests.
- Directs the delivery of safe and appropriate care by evidence-based practice, national benchmarks for clinical staffing levels/mixes and quality outcomes. Drives solutions to standardize practices across broader BJC organization. Participates in the development and execution of functional business plans and contributes to the development of functional strategy.
- Provides daily oversight for the management and ongoing operations of a system-wide central clinical float pool to supplement staffing needs in all BJC HSOs.
- Manages individual(s) including but not limited to: onboarding and hiring, training, workload management & performance evaluations, conducting professional development plans as needed. Ensures that the productivity and actions of that group meet/support the overall operational goals of the department as established by department leadership.
- Develops and adheres to departmental staffing, revenue and/or expense budgets. Responds to changes in the business which may affect the ability to achieve the budget goals.
- Supports and assists the growth of existing and new workforce management technologies and processes. Maintains comprehensive understanding of internal and industry standards, as well as of the changing business environment.
