JOB SUMMARY
Certification of aircraft interior units often requires physical testing to demonstrate compliance with FAA and/or OEM requirements, or to simulate rough handling in service through assist and abuse load testing where applicable. Test articles may include seats, galleys, closets, dividers, bins, linings such as sidewalls, and other interior components, assemblies, or detail parts such as waste flaps or seat armrests.
The Static Test Technician is responsible for setting up and supporting these tests in accordance with the test plan provided. This includes light to moderate fabrication of fixtures and equipment, installation of test articles, and execution of test activities under the supervision of the cognizant Test Engineer.
SUMMARY OF JOB DUTIES - Essential Functions (Other duties and projects may be assigned or requested.)

The Static Test Technician will oversee producing a test setup that matches what is in the test plan.
- Fabrication of dummy fixtures, test frames, and other test equipment
- Including cutting of wood or steel, welding of steel, and using screws/bolts for assembly
- Installation of the unit on the fixture, and removal from the fixture when testing is complete.
- Installation may require modification of the fixture for upper attachment, or drilling the fixture floor plate, tapping threads, etc.
- Setting up door latching according to the test plan
- Changing spring plates at galley structural attachments
- Installation of a "whiffle tree" for application of loads via hydraulic cylinder
- Loading weights (lead bars or bags at 25 to 35 lb) onto and then off of a unit as detailed in the test plan
- Minor electrical assembly or rework (i.e. replacing a connector on a load cell transducer cable)
- Setup of cyclic loading for fatigue testing
- Carry out Preventative Maintenance
- Coordinating with the Test Engineer to ensure that the setup meets the intent in the test plan if any detail is unclear.
GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS – Education, Knowledge, and Experience
Education:
- Associates Degree preferred
Experience:
- Relevant experience in welding and test setup preferred.
Skills:
- Ability to read and interpret test plans, sketches, and basic technical documents
- Basic fabrication and assembly skills
- Proficiency with hand tools and power tools
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and work independently within defined procedures
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safe work practices
- Effective communication and coordination with engineers and technical staff
Preferred Skills/Experience:
- Prior experience supporting static or structural testing
- Experience in aerospace, aircraft interiors, manufacturing, or test laboratory environments
- Familiarity with test fixtures, load application systems, and mechanical setup
- Basic electrical repair or cable rework experience
- Welding experience in a fabrication or test support environment
Other:
- Ability to work in a hands-on, physically active environment
- Ability to adapt to changing test requirements and schedules
- Strong problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude

The role requires sound judgment, mechanical reasoning, and the ability to address practical fabrication or assembly challenges.
