Boulder County Community Services Department is seeking to hire 1 (one) Joe Pelle Center (JPC) Treatment Counselor I (BH-1) OR 1 (one) Joe Pelle Center Treatment Counselor II (BH-2). One position is bilingual preferred, and one is bilingual required. The (JPC) Treatment Counselor serves as an integral member of the Treatment Team within Boulder County Community Justice Services (CJS), working with a team of clinicians who provide group and individual therapy to residents of the Joe Pelle Center. The team delivers treatment services to individuals participating in alternative sentencing programs and community corrections. This role delivers evidence-based, trauma-informed care aimed at supporting behavioral health stabilization, fostering personal growth, and promoting successful reintegration into the community.
This is a full-time, benefited position that will work Monday - Friday 9:00am - 5:00pm or the option of a four-day work week with 10-hour shifts. Some evening availability is required for group facilitation. Scheduling flexibility may be offered based on candidate needs and program requirements. This position will work out of 3260 Airport Rd., Boulder, Colorado. Under Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) guidelines, this position is exempt.
Boulder County requires its employees to reside in the state of Colorado as of the first day of work.
BH-1 Hiring Salary Range: $73,884.00 - $90,138.00 Annually
BH-2 Hiring Salary Range: $77,580.00 - $94,686.00 Annually
Tentative Hiring Timeline:
- Phone Screening: Week of July 20th

- Language Proficiency Test (if applicable): Week of August 3rd
- Reference Check: Week of July 27th
New employees receive an 80-hour bank of vacation at the time of hire, in addition to 8 hours of both vacation and medical leave accruals each month (Must not have been employed at Boulder County during the 12 months prior to re-hire date to qualify). Boulder County offers bountiful benefits, including pension contributions.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES- Therapeutic Services
- Provide individual and group therapy addressing substance use, trauma, mental health, relapse prevention, cognitive behavioral interventions, recovery skills, coping skills, emotional regulation, and other evidence-based or emerging practices tailored to client needs
- Collaborate with prescribers, case managers, probation, and other community partners to ensure continuity of care
- Assessment and Treatment Planning
- Conduct screening, evaluation, and assessments for new clients
- Develop individualized treatment plans that address mental health, substance use, and criminogenic needs while promoting recovery, resilience, and long-term stability
- Clinical Documentation and Reporting
- Accurately document all services and encounters in the electronic health record system in compliance with organizational, licensing, and regulatory standards
- Prepare required reports on client progress and program activity in a timely manner

Collaboration and Consultation
Work closely with behavioral health and case management teams to provide coordinated, client-centered services - Provide consultation to staff regarding client behavior, safety, and mental health concerns to support a safe and effective treatment environment
- Participate in the agency’s internship program by providing clinical supervision to students or interns within the counselor’s scope of practice; support onboarding of new staff and contribute to a positive, trauma-informed team culture
- Performs related work, as required
- May be reassigned during emergency situations
