Location:
Boyd CAT is proud to announce the development of a new branch location supporting a data center project in Mason County, WV. This position will initially report from our Belle, WV location for training, with plans to transition to the new Point Pleasant branch full-time after the completion of the new location build-out.
1. Essential Functions
- Travel to branches or other locations as required to perform assigned duties
- Maintain a valid motor vehicle operators' license
- Maintain a high degree of discretion in handling confidential/sensitive information and exercise initiative in all assigned areas, high integrity and accountability standards (I, C)
- Assist work team to meet the objectives of the department and the Company (C)
- Ability to communicate effectively in spoken and written English
- Ability to operate a P.C. (Windows, Excel, Word, etc)
- Able to climb on, operate, and inspect equipment
- Achieve sales objectives in assigned territory
2. Responsibilities
- Cover assigned territory by traveling to/calling customer locations to conduct sales calls, meetings, equipment inspections, and achieve sales volume, profit, and market share objectives
- Prospect and develop new customers and markets and maintain customer relationships through professional and ethical business conduct
- Assist customer in equipment recommendations, financial analysis, and problem solving by furnishing technical and production analysis assistance utilizing performance handbook, technical literature, computer programs, industry experience, Product Application Representatives, or production analysis truck
- Coordinate and participate in all demonstrations in assigned territory
- Assure all equipment deliveries meet the conditions of the sale and if not, take appropriate action to correct any problems
- Continually monitor customer satisfaction with the Company and its products, and handle and submit customer problems and/or complaints with product or dealer services
- Develop and maintain knowledge on products, applications, industry, selling skills, and product support to enhance and achieve required sales performance
- Participate in branch, regional, and general sales meetings, and attend CAT and other company represented product and market training schools as scheduled
- Participate in local trade and industry association functions
- Accurately submit all required deal documentation including, but not limited to, quotations, breakdowns, security and lease agreements, machine activity reports, warranty forms, etc
- Submit required reports accurately and on time
- Monthly territory reports
- Call/expense reports (daily as customer calls are performed)
- Machine activity reports on all the Company competitive deals - new, used, and rental sales, or rentals
- Sales forecasts – annual, monthly, as needed
- Competitive activity for the product and dealer
- Customer dispatch mail list and ownership records
- Report any items of interest or required information to appropriate person and/or department (i.e., technical information, customer credit, customer concerns, market surveys, competitive activity, customer mergers or buyouts, etc) and assure appropriate action is implemented
- Cooperate with all company departments regarding credit, fair trade values, insurance, taxes and product support to ensure both sales objectives and customer requirements are met
- Control and manage personal travel and business expenses
- Recommend to manager ideas to improve the departments operating procedures or business practices and participate in and support continuous improvement of all related activities and processes ( E )
- Project a positive image by interacting with fellow employees, customers, and management in a cooperative, supportive, and courteous manner; display a professional attitude; comply with company dress code ( C, S )
- Create and maintain good communications (verbally and in writing) and relationships with other Company departments, branches, employees, outside vendors, and customers by addressing and resolving concerns quickly ( C )
- Follow all work, safety rules, and procedures ( E )
- Perform other duties as necessary and assigned ( S )
3. Education, Skills, Experience
- Sales experience required
- Willingness to learn and be trained
- Excellent interpersonal skills, and written and verbal communication skills
- Able to communicate with team members and customers ( C )
- Good working knowledge of computers, spreadsheets, word processing programs ( E )
- Highly self-directed ( I )
- Ability to work independently or in a team environment with rapidly changing priorities and demands ( C )
5. Personal Protective Equipment
- Safety glasses, steel-toe boots, safety vests, hard hats, etc., when appropriate or required per shop, customer or site location
- Utilize any and all personal protective equipment required by law or by customer for underground site, remain updated on what is required
