Special Education Teachers – School Age & Preschool | NYS Special Education Certification req’d
Location: Brookville, NY (Nassau County / Long Island)
Full Time: Mon-Fri, 8:30am - 3:30pm (32.5 hours weekly)
12-Month School Calendar
Salary: $69,643 - $83,571/yr based upon experience and credentials
Brookville Center for Children's Services provides comprehensive services for children 3-21 years of age with intellectual and other disabilities, traumatic brain injury, and autism. Our mission is to educate and support children of all abilities.
We seek Special Education Teachers to assess and provide tailored educational services to students with intellectual and other disabilities. Responsibilities include supervising assigned teacher assistants and aides, maintaining timely and effective communication with families, and staying current with professional development in areas relevant to the program's students.

In this role, you will:
- Implement individualized curriculum and ensure a safe classroom environment.
- Plan daily lessons based on IEP goals and developmental checklists.
- Evaluate student performance and update IEP goals annually.
- Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress.
- Manage and oversee teacher assistants and aides.
- Attend case conferences and coordinate educational interventions.
- Maintain compliance with regulations and complete required reports.
- Participate in professional development and collaborate with team members.
We require:
- Bachelor’s degree; Master’s preferred
- NYS Certification in Special Education
- Minimum 1 year experience to plan individualized plans to meet special needs of each child preferred
- Prior special education teaching experience preferred
- Physical capacity: Aspects may include, but are not limited to, lifting and transferring of a child/student
- Demonstrate Cultural Competency
