Burns & McDonnell is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to take control of their career potential in our Upper Midwest Region. This position will partner with a multi-discipline team to develop designs of electrical substations to support the safe and reliable delivery of electricity. Opportunities may include, but are not limited to:
- Thinking creatively to address the complex challenges faced by municipal, cooperative, and investor-owned utilities, developers, and other transmission asset owners.
- Innovating project approach to optimize safety, schedule, and profitability.
- Participate in developing project schedules, scope, budgets, staffing plans, and construction plans.
- Mentoring less experienced engineers in their technical and professional development.
- Performing quality control reviews for other engineers and designers.
- Developing innovative processes, tools, and design solutions.
- Leading/Overseeing site grading and stormwater management designs.
- Leading/Overseeing the development of permitting documentation.
- Supporting clients during permitting and construction.
- Performing field inspections and compliance documentation.
- Leading a team of multi-discipline professionals to ensure project success.
- Presenting designs and proposals to clients, permitting authorities, public interest groups, etc.
- Preparation of construction documents, including plans, specifications, and permitting documents, which may include model outputs, exhibits, and correspondence.
- Hydrologic and Hydraulic modeling with the ability to adapt to various site conditions.
- Corresponding and/or meeting with clients, contractors, and vendors.
- Leading project proposal efforts.
- Advancing into leadership roles.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related degree from an ABET-accredited program and 7 years of civil engineering experience required. EPC project experience preferred.
- Or Bachelor's degree in Civil or related Engineering Technology from an ABET-accredited program, successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam, and 7 years of civil engineering experience required. EPC project experience preferred.
- Or Master's degree in Civil Engineering and 6 years of civil engineering experience required. EPC project experience preferred.
- Expert knowledge in standard engineering techniques and procedures. Strong computer skills (e.g., AutoCAD, MicroStation, BIM (Revit), Civil 3D, PLS, PLS-CADD, RISA-3D, MathCADD), and/or hydraulic, hydrologic, pavement, civil analysis programs.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with leading the discipline design for large projects and delegating work tasks to team members. Ability to lead execution of work and resolve issues in a team environment.
- Demonstrated critical thinking skills, ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment.
- Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to perform quality reviews for detailed engineering documents and specifications.
- Ability to travel.
- Professional Engineer (PE) License preferred.
Compensation
$140,000.00-200,000.00 Yearly
The expected compensation range for this position is displayed in compliance with all local/state regulations. The expected compensation range for this position is based on a number of factors, including but not limited to: individual education, qualifications, prior work experience and work location. The total annual compensation package will consist of a base salary and eligibility to participate in our discretionary year-end incentive bonus program.
