The Heavy Duty Mechanic plays a critical role in ensuring that our company owned fleet operates safely, efficiently, and in compliance with federal and state regulations. This role is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining large commercial vehicles and heavy equipment. Candidates must be mechanically inclined, dependable, and eager to grow in a hands-on, fast-paced shop environment.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Perform or assist with heavy-duty engine repairs and routine maintenance
- Perform annual inspections, prepare vehicles for DOT audits, and maintain service records in line with FMCSA standards.
- Troubleshoot and repair manual transmissions, electronic engine controls, hydraulic systems, and general electrical issues
- Assist with tire changes, brake replacements, fluid changes, and inspections
- Clean, organize, and maintain shop and work areas
- Operate shop tools and heavy equipment safely
- Pick up or deliver tools, parts, or equipment as needed
- Follow all safety procedures, company SOPs, and regulatory requirements
- Complete work orders, maintenance logs, and parts usage documentation accurately and thoroughly.
- Support lead mechanic and communicate job progress or issues
Qualifications
- Basic mechanical knowledge required; diesel repair experience preferred
- Familiarity with computerized diagnostic equipment
- Ability to troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems
- Must supply and maintain a personal set of mechanic tools (specialty tools provided by the shop)
- Physical ability to lift heavy components and work in varied shop environments
- Valid driver’s license
- Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and willingness to learn
