Position Overview
Canyon State Electric, a growing and award-winning electrical construction company based in the Phoenix, AZ area, is seeking a Vice President of Operations to join its executive leadership team.
This critical leadership role is responsible for overseeing all core operational functions including project management, field operations, procurement, and virtual designconstruction (VDC). The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in electrical construction - particularly in mission-critical and data center environments - and will play a pivotal role in scaling operations, elevating execution standards, and driving profitability across all projects.
As a key member of the executive team, this leader will focus on building high-performing teams, strengthening operational systems, and ensuring the consistent delivery of safe, high-quality, and highly profitable projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop all operational departments including project management, field operations, procurement, and VDC
- Build, mentor, and retain a high-performing leadership and field execution team with strong accountability standards
- Oversee the full project lifecycle from preconstruction through closeout, ensuring adherence to schedule, budget, and quality standards
- Drive operational excellence on mission-critical data center projects, supporting repeat business and expanded client relationships
- Ensure all projects meet or exceed safety, quality, and compliance requirements
- Establish and refine operational processes to improve efficiency, productivity, and profitability
- Maintain strong customer relationships and deliver high levels of client satisfaction
- Quickly identify and resolve operational or project-related issues to prevent delays or cost overruns
- Collaborate with executive leadership on strategic planning, forecasting, and long-term growth initiatives
- Strengthen vendor and subcontractor relationships to support project success
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and safety throughout the organization
- Ensure strong alignment between field execution and corporate objectives
Qualifications
- Minimum 10+ years of progressive experience in electrical construction
- Proven leadership experience in a senior operations or executive-level role
- Direct experience with mission-critical / data center construction projects strongly required
- Deep understanding of project management, field operations, procurement, and VDC processes
- Demonstrated success leading, managing, and scaling technical and field teams
- Strong background in operational planning, execution, and performance optimization
- Proven track record of delivering profitable projects on time and within budget
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Strong problem-solving ability with experience managing complex construction challenges
- High level of accountability with a focus on safety, quality, and customer satisfaction
CompensationBenefits
- Base Salary Range: $185,000 - $245,000 (commensurate with experience and qualifications)
