Position Summary
This position is responsible for supporting maintenance, repair, preventive maintenance, and equipment recovery activities for production equipment on second shift.
The General Maintenance Technician will primarily work on presses, welding equipment, assembly equipment, material handling equipment, tooling, jigs, and auxiliary systems.
This position is intended for an individual who is motivated to learn and grow within the maintenance field. The technician will perform work under the direction of the General Maintenance Group Leader.
Key Responsibilities
A. Equipment Maintenance & Troubleshooting
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on production equipment, tooling, jigs, and auxiliary systems.
- Assist with troubleshooting, replacement, and adjustment of mechanical components and basic electrical components.
- Inspect and replace basic components such as sensors, switches, relays, pneumatic devices, cylinders, and valves.
- Report and escalate equipment issues to the Group Leader, Maintenance Manager, or Electrical Engineer as needed.
- Support production departments during equipment recovery, changeover, or startup activities.
- Work with other maintenance technicians as needed to support repair and recovery activities.
B. Preventive Maintenance (PM) & Work Records
- Perform preventive maintenance tasks according to the PM schedule.
- Complete PM check sheets accurately and report abnormalities or improvement needs.
- Perform maintenance work according to assigned Work Orders and accurately document completed work.
- Identify shortages of required parts or consumables and report them to the Group Leader.
- Promptly communicate equipment abnormalities or potential recurring issues.
- Use email or the Work Order system as needed to clearly document and share work details, abnormalities, and shift handoff information.
C. Safety & Compliance
- Use proper PPE and follow company safety rules during maintenance work.
- Properly perform Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) when required.
- Keep equipment, tools, and work areas safe, clean, and organized.
- Promptly report safety concerns or hazardous conditions.
- Follow company policies, work procedures, and quality standards.
D. Improvement & Training
- Support Kaizen activities related to equipment reliability and work efficiency.
- Continuously learn and improve skills related to mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
- Receive training and guidance from the Group Leader, Maintenance Manager, and Electrical Engineer to improve technical skills.
- Share troubleshooting information and improvement ideas with the maintenance team as needed.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required
- Basic knowledge of machine maintenance or manufacturing equipment.
- Experience using tools for repair, adjustment, and maintenance work.
- Basic understanding of electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems, or willingness to learn.
- Ability to understand equipment manuals, basic drawings, and work instructions.
- Ability to follow safety rules, PPE requirements, and LOTO procedures.
- Ability to work second shift on a regular and long-term basis.
- Ability to communicate effectively with the team and document work details or shift handoff information through email or the Work Order system as needed.
Preferred
- Experience maintaining manufacturing equipment.
- Experience replacing sensors, switches, relays, motors, or pneumatic components.
- Experience using HMI screens to check equipment status.
- Experience with presses, welding equipment, assembly equipment, or material handling equipment.
- Experience with forklifts, cranes, welding, or machining.
- Experience supporting Kaizen activities or improvement suggestions.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
- Must be able to lift up to 45 lbs.
- Must be able to perform tasks requiring standing, bending, climbing, and kneeling.
- Work may be performed in manufacturing environments with noise, heat, oil, dust, and other industrial conditions.
