Job Overview
Capital Women's Care provides total women's healthcare at the highest medical and ethical standards. This is a great opportunity to join one of the best OB/GYN practices in the area and a dynamic team. Capital Women's Care is a 150+ group of OB/GYNs located throughout Greater Washington, DC, Northern Virginia and Maryland. The Medical Assistant primarily provides clinical and administrative support to our OB/GYN physicians and other clinical staff. This position requires strong communication and organizational skills and be able to be empathetic towards patients while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for verifying patient information by interviewing patient; recording medical history; confirming purpose of visit.
- Prepares patients for examination by performing preliminary physical tests; taking blood pressure, weight, and temperature; reporting patient history summary.
- Responsible for collecting and preparing laboratory specimens, giving patients injections and drawing blood.
- Secures patient information and maintains patient confidence by completing and safeguarding electronic and paper medical records; completing diagnostic coding and procedure coding; keeping patient information confidential.
- Inform patients by transmitting physician's orders and questions about surgery.
- Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures, complying with legal regulations.
- Assist with sterilizing equipment / maintain proper working knowledge of the Autoclave.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Certified Medical Assistant or Registered Medical Assistant certification preferred.
- 2 years of medical assistant experience required.
- At least 1 year of Ob/Gyn experience preferred.
- Ability to take and document patient vital signs.
- Ability to work within EMR system.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology.
- Strong communication skills to effectively educate patients about their health.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Commitment to providing compassionate care while advocating for women's health issues.
Schedule
- Monday-Friday with occasional evening hours (8:00am to 5:00pm)
- Rotating Saturdays (7:45AM - 12:00PM)
Work Location
- In person
- Travel to all locations (Frederick, Mt. Airy, Urbana) required; schedule dependent on divisional needs.
