The Inventory Clerk is responsible for maintaining accurate records of inventory levels and ensuring that all products are properly stored and accounted for. This position requires attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work independently.
Schedule: Full-time starting at 4:00am and end in the afternoon. Monday – Friday with rotating weekends. Occasional overtime may be required.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Maintain a perpetual inventory of products, equipment, supplies and other general items.
- Perform physical counts of inventory.
- Reconcile actual stock count to database records.
- Ensure inventory process and procedures are properly documented and followed.
- Review records, such as sales orders, production records, or purchase invoices to obtain current inventory levels.
- Verify clerical computations against physical count of stock and adjust errors in computation or count.
- Investigate and report reasons for discrepancies.
- Prepare reports, such as inventory balance, price lists, and shortages.
- Ensure proper configuration and labeling of products and storage locations.
- Maintain a clean and organized inventory storage area
- Coordinate with other departments to ensure efficient movement of products.
- May perform other routine clerical duties, including data entry.
- May perform other routine warehouse clerk duties, including receiving, stocking, picking, loading, and duties as assigned.
- May be required to operate company equipment such as forklifts, conveyers, and compactors.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience working in a Warehouse or Manufacturing Environments.
- Prior experience in inventory management or related field preferred
- Basic communication skills including verbal, writing, and reading.
- Basic mathematic skills include addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft & Inventory systems)
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks
- Ability to understand warehouse mapping and configuration.
- Ability to adhere to safety policies and procedures.
- Ability to operate warehouse equipment.

Capitol Distributing is the largest convenience wholesale distributor in Idaho. Founded in 1983, Capitol delivers to retailers across the Western United States from its 300,000 square foot distribution center in Caldwell, Idaho.
Working Conditions:
Inventory Clerks work in warehouse setting that includes both ambient & freezer temperatures. Individuals working in freezer conditions will be provided with adequate cold gear. This role is very fast-paced and requires a significant amount of movement to meet replenishment rates. The position will require general physical movements such as frequent walking, standing, bending, twisting, and reaching. Must be able to lift and move products occasionally up to 50+Lbs. Frequently climbing stairs, using ladders, and working on elevated platforms is required. Individuals will also be expected to follow and understand basic instructions/ policies.
