POSITION SUMMARY: Working in collaboration with Family Resource Centers (FRCs), Stanislaus County Office of Education (SCOE) and school sites to provide brief individual intervention counseling (BIC), outreach and engagement, and linkages to community services to students preschool through 12th grade in underserved/unserved locations/school sites.
DUTIES:
Develop and maintain a professional relationship with designated school site and community, FRC, BHRS and with colleagues and staff.
Provide individual and group outreach and engagement activities and services to inform, train and/or educate the community about mental health, suicide prevention, and mental health services and identify at-risk individuals with early signs or serious mental health issues.
Provide or refer identified at-risk populations to mental health services or community support.
Provide early intervention treatment and brief clinical services (BIC) to individuals and/or their family members including non-emergent crisis situations.
Integrate access and linkage strategies in all activities and services provided as a means of improving timely access to mental health services.
Provide activities and services that are non-stigmatizing and non-discriminatory to improve overall awareness and timely access to services.
Collaboration and coordination with school based support providers of student referrals and services.
Consultation, trainings and presentations for school staff and parents.
Participation in Student Study Team meetings.
Case Management services for access and navigation including referrals to community supports.
Development and facilitation of psycho-educational groups, parenting and other classes as needed or required.
Attend individual and group supervision as assigned.
Complete necessary client case materials, program forms and statistical data.
Complete screenings and provide aftercare follow-up procedures, in a timely manner.
Completes all necessary charting, reports and statistical information necessary for assigned client population, in a timely manner.
Perform other duties as assigned, in a timely manner.
Perform home visits as necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Completed Master’s Degree in Counseling, Psychology or Social Work.
Has current Associate or Licensed status with the Board of Behavioral Sciences Possess strong organizational skills.
Be a self-motivated individual; possessing the ability to initiate action related to contractual requirements and documentation.
Ability to:
Develop and maintain professional relationships with clients, client families, school staff, the professional community, and the community served as a whole.
Organize and prioritize work to meet critical deadlines.
Balance meeting contractual services with paperwork requirements.
Assess and prioritize community and school cultural issues and determine needs.
Establish clear boundaries in a diplomatic manner with students, families, school personnel, and community members.
Be open to feedback from contract monitors, clinical and administrative supervisors.
Knowledge of:
Theory, principals, techniques and trends in counseling and therapy.
Community resources
Community resiliency and protective factors
Cultural competency and cultural barriers to seeking mental health services
DSM V Diagnostic Criteria.
Electronic Health Record Systems Software; including Microsoft office suite.
Pass agency paid criminal justice screening including fingerprints.
Pass agency paid TB (Tuberculosis) screening.
Pass agency paid health screening and/or drug testing, if required.
Valid California driver’s license and proof of auto insurance coverage.
Pass agency paid MVR clearance with no more than 2 points - if you are under the age of 25 our insurance company will not allow any points

Maintain confidentiality and confidential information in accordance with legal standards and/or agency regulations.
Participate in assigned scheduled agency and contract meetings, in-service trainings, conferences and other trainings as determined by the supervisor. This includes serving as an agency representative at assigned community meetings.
Observance of assigned working hours and program appointments by demonstrating promptness and thorough preparation.
Performance of assigned duties with a positive attitude and in the spirit of teamwork, collaboration and cooperation.
Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Work efficiently with a variety of situations and people.
Perform job duties in a safe manner to ensure a safe working environment for oneself and others.
Preparation of assigned reports, work records, statistical data, job performance evaluations, work plans, etc. in a timely manner.
Meet contractual obligation by completing the identified services as written in the SCBHI contract.
