The Associate Director of Admission is responsible for counseling and assisting prospective students and their families in the admission process, managing a geographic territory including Nashville, parts of the state of Tennessee, and other areas as assigned to meet recruitment goals, cultivate and maintain relationships with high school counselors, Centre alumni and parents, athletic directors, principals, heads of school, community-based organizations, and other constituencies of the College. The Associate Director manages and participates in administrative projects in support of the goals of the Office of Admission and Financial Aid. This position may be asked participate in hosting donor and alumni events in the greater Nashville area. This position reports to the Director of Admission.
Essential Job Functions:
- Manage student recruitment in assigned territory. Market research, school and community relations and correspondence with students and families are required.Coordinate recruitment activities including interviews, high school visits, college fairs, Centre-hosted events, virtual events and meetings, email, text and phone campaigns, and other activities to meet enrollment goals;
- Build, cultivate and maintain relationships with high school counselors, Centre alumni and current parents, high school athletic directors, principals, heads of school, community-based organizations, and other constituencies;
- Develop an action plan to establish and cultivate relationships in assigned regional territory to engage high-achieving prospective students and to grow application volume, admitted applicant volume, and the number of enrolled students from the regional territory;
- Conduct recruitment travel in Nashville and other areas as assigned in the fall and spring. This individual is responsible for all planning and preparation for the travel;
- Meet with prospective students and their families for individual and group information sessions. Counsel students and families on the admission and financial aid process. Articulate the features and benefits of a liberal arts and sciences education;
- Travel to Centre eight to ten times annually to attend on-campus admission events, staff meetings and retreats, and for staff training.
- Read and evaluate applications for admission and scholarship selection;
- Attend weekly meetings virtually with the counseling staff and report on pertinent information related to responsibilities;
- Serve as a member of the Scholarship Selection Team within the Office of Admission;.
- Demonstrate an appreciation for and sensitivity to an inclusive academic community, fostering a welcoming environment for students, faculty, and staff from all social, economic, cultural, ideological, racial, and ethnic backgrounds.

- Participate actively in professional organizations.
- Enthusiastically participate in all staff activities.
Requirements
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree and five to seven years relevant experience required.
- Experience working with students from backgrounds traditionally underrepresented in higher education required.
Knowledge and Skills
- Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication, and organizational skills are required.
- Basic computer skills needed to utilize admission specific software, spreadsheets and calendars.
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team is important. Empathy and humor are crucial.
- Valid driver’s license is required.
Physical Requirements:
- Limited pushing and lifting. Lifting would not exceed 20 lbs.
- Must be able to travel to assigned geographic territory.
