SALARY RANGEThe advertised hiring range is $110,800 - $138,500, with a maximum opportunity of up to $166,200 with tenure and strong performance.
Introductory Period: New employees holding regular positions must complete an introductory period of twelve months.

JOB POSTINGSuperintendent - Fish & Wildlife Operations
Overview
This position is responsible for the day-to-day supervision, coordination, and implementation of fish and wildlife operational activities and biological field programs. This position oversees biological study operations, hatchery evaluation activities, fish monitoring programs, wildlife operations, and related field staff. This position supervises bargaining-unit employees and seasonal personnel, ensures quality assurance and quality control standards are met, coordinates operational resources, and supports the successful execution of regulatory and licensing requirements. This position provides operational expertise and recommendations regarding staffing, scheduling, and resource needs to support departmental goals and program objectives.
Responsibilities
Supervise and oversee F&W department bargaining unit staff and field operations. Perform supervisory duties such as hiring, performance reviews, discipline, scheduling, and staff development. Assist in developing operational plans, implement approved budgets, and coordinate the use of shared department resources, promoting efficient and cost-effective use of labor and asset resources.
Oversee the implementation of various District natural resource and operational programs, including hatchery monitoring, wildlife, and predator control programs. Assist with coordination among professional and oversee bargaining unit staff throughout the District to ensure F&W operations are conducted safely, efficiently and remain consistent with federal and state regulations, District licenses, and Habitat Conservation Plans (HCP).
Coordinate with the F&W Operations Manager and professional biology staff to ensure natural resource studies, operational activities, and initiatives are implemented in accordance with project plans and goals. Identify resource deficiencies and appropriate solutions. Provide material and labor cost estimates and evaluate the accuracy of the estimates to improve estimation methods. Develop project status reports to department staff, Executive Management, and the Board of Commissioners.
- Contributes to the development of department short and long-term plans, goals, and operational priorities. Contributes to the development of the Natural Resources capital budget.
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance: Perform related duties and responsibilities as required. Comply with District policies. Complete all required training. Maintain a working knowledge and comply with District safety procedures and specific safety requirements of this position, and those in accordance with applicable provisions of the Revised Code of Washington (RCW) and Washington Administrative Code (WAC). Employees with access to confidential employee records and information are required to restrict access from any unauthorized person, except on a need to know basis.

Education
Bachelor's Degree in Biology or a related field from an accredited four-year college or university is required.- Master’s Degree in a scientific field is desired.
5+ years leading natural resource operations and/or natural resources biological work required.Experience working in the utility industry and at a hydroelectric project is preferred.
- Supervisory experience is preferred.
