Title: Assistant Manager of Educator Development & Pathways

The Assistant Manager of Educator Development & Pathways is responsible for overseeing the recruitment, development, and advancement of diverse educators across Chelsea Public Schools (CPS). This role manages the Teacher Pathway Program (TPP), a talent pipeline that supports paraprofessionals, parents, alumni, and other community members in pursuing teaching careers. The Assistant Manager will design and implement systems that build educator capacity, ensure high-quality mentoring and coaching, lead targeted recruitment strategies, and drive the completion of licensure and development milestones. This position plays a key role in advancing equity, workforce development, and teacher retention within CPS.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Strategic Program Leadership
- Assist with:
- The planning, implementation, and continuous improvement of the Teacher Pathway Program (TPP).
- Developing and executing a long-term strategic vision for educator pipelines, aligned to district goals on diversity, retention, and instructional excellence.
- Serving as the primary liaison between CPS, community partners, colleges/universities, and external stakeholders involved in teacher preparation and advancement.
- Supervising program staff, mentors, and contracted facilitators who support teacher development.
Teacher Pathway Program (TPP)
- Assist With:
- Managing the full life cycle of TPP - all arms, from recruitment and onboarding through licensure and career advancement.
- Developing a comprehensive scope and sequence for each of the five pathway tracks (e.g., High School to Para, Para to Teacher).
- Coordinating support such as test prep, coursework guidance, tuition assistance, and advising.
- Leading the planning of all recruitment and celebration events, including the annual TPP Graduation.
- Maintaining and analyze participant data, licensure progress, and alumni placement through a centralized tracking system.
- Overseeing all licensure and certification related programs including but not limited to MTEL and ParaPro courses.
Recruitment, Retention & Community Engagement
- Lead outreach and recruitment strategies targeting local high school students, alumni, paraprofessionals, and parents to increase pathway participation.
- Develop and distribute marketing materials, including digital media, brochures, and website content.
- Attend job fairs, school events, and community forums to promote CPS as an employer of choice.
- Build and sustain partnerships with colleges, universities, and licensure programs that support educator development.
Licensure Data, Reporting & Grant Management
- Maintains and monitors data tracking systems that include, but not limited to, teachers’ licensure status, hiring/onboarding data, staffing data, evaluation data, and recruitment and retention data.
- Post all district job openings in a timely and accurate manner, ensuring clear communication and coordination with school principals to maintain up-to-date staffing information.
- Monitor, evaluate, and report on program metrics, teacher outcomes, and retention data for TPP.
- Ensure compliance with grant-funded initiatives and support the writing and submission of new grants as needed.
- Create quarterly updates and presentations for district leadership on program progress, trends, and impact.
Collaboration with District & School Leaders
- Assist With:
- Partner with principals, mentors, and instructional coaches to align HR initiatives with school priorities.
- Serve as a non-evaluative thought partner to school administrators on mentoring, induction, and teacher supports.
- Participate in HR and Instructional Leadership team meetings to integrate development efforts across departments.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s Degree preferred)
- 3–5 years of teaching experience in K–12 public education
- 2–4 years of experience in a leadership, coaching, or program management role
- Proven experience designing and facilitating professional development
- Strong project management and organizational skills
- Proficiency with data collection, analysis, and reporting
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
- Experience working with diverse populations and a demonstrated commitment to educational equity
- Proficiency with Google Suite and digital collaboration tools
- Ability to travel to schools and events as needed
- U.S. Citizenship, residency, or work authorization
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bilingual Spanish
- Experience coaching, mentoring, or supervising educators
- Knowledge of licensure pathways and teacher certification processes
- Prior experience managing grants and/or program budgets
- Familiarity with the Chelsea community or similar urban school districts
Salary: Compensation is commensurate with experience.
Terms: This is a full time position (40 hours/week). Hours will be established upon hire. This is a non-bargaining unit position and is eligible for benefits. Salary will be determined by work experience and education level.
