Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled Underwriter specializing in the transportation space to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing risks, evaluating insurance applications, and developing underwriting strategies to ensure profitability while maintaining excellent client relationships.

Responsibilities:

• Risk Assessment: Analyze and evaluate insurance applications assessing potential risks and exposures.
• Production: Create, manage, and sustain profitable business through providing high level technical expertise, teamwork, and top-tier customer service.
• Underwriting: Determine appropriate coverage, terms, and pricing for transportation insurance policies based on risk analysis and underwriting guidelines.
• Client Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, brokers, and other stakeholders to understand their needs and provide tailored insurance solutions.
• Market Analysis: Stay informed about industry trends, market conditions, and regulatory changes to adapt underwriting strategies accordingly.
• Negotiation: Negotiate terms and conditions with clients and brokers to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes while maximizing profitability.
• Policy Issuance: Ensure accurate and timely issuance of insurance policies, endorsements, and other related documents.
• Portfolio Management: Monitor and manage underwriting portfolio performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing strategies to optimize results.
• Compliance: Ensure compliance with underwriting guidelines, regulatory requirements, and company policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Insurance, Risk Management, Business Administration, or a related field. Advanced degree or professional certifications (e.g., CPCU, ARM) preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in insurance underwriting, with a focus on the transportation industry.
• In-depth knowledge of transportation insurance products, coverages, and underwriting principles.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess risks and make sound underwriting decisions.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build rapport and effectively collaborate with clients and stakeholders.
• Proven track record of meeting or exceeding underwriting goals and targets.
• Proficiency in underwriting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.
