About the Role:
The Software Engineer designs, develops, tests, implements, and maintains enterprise software applications while supporting and enhancing the City's portfolio of custom-developed business systems.
Key Responsibilities:- Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain enterprise software applications.
- Enhance and modernize legacy applications while supporting ongoing business operations.
- Write clean, secure, scalable, and maintainable code using multiple programming languages and development frameworks.
- Develop automated tests while performing manual testing, debugging, troubleshooting, and application optimization.
- Collaborate with business users, project teams, analysts, and technical staff to gather requirements and deliver software solutions.
- Utilize AI-assisted development tools and modern software engineering practices to improve code quality, automate repetitive tasks, and accelerate software delivery.
- Support application integrations, system enhancements, and software deployments.
- Monitor application performance and resolve technical issues while maintaining system reliability and security.
- Document software designs, technical specifications, and development standards.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or higher

4+ years of experience developing software using most of these technologies: C#, VB.NET, T-SQL, GIT, HTML5 & CSS, JSON, XML, JavaScript, JQuery, and Bootstrap
- Or Associate's Degree with 6+ years of experience developing software using most of these technologies: C#, VB.NET, T-SQL, GIT, HTML5 & CSS, JSON, XML, JavaScript, JQuery, and Bootstrap
- No College Degree, plus 8+ years of experience
- Working knowledge/experience of object-oriented programming and object-oriented design principles.
- Working knowledge/experience of software development best practices, secure coding principles, software design patterns, and version control.
- Experience developing or consuming RESTful APIs and integrating enterprise applications.
- Experience leading software development projects from design through deployment.
- Experience conducting architecture reviews and recommending technical solutions.
- Experience estimating effort, planning releases, and coordinating work across technical teams
- Experience working directly with business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Experience leveraging AI-assisted software development tools to improve developer productivity, code quality, testing, and documentation is preferred.
