This is a grant-funded position, renewable per term of contract. The City of Hartford is not obligated to fund this position upon termination of funding.
This is a CHPEA union position. The hours of work for this position are 40 per week.
Distinguishing Characteristics
Work may be performed in emergency situations, requiring the ability to multi-task and respond to situations promptly, professionally, and accurately. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES The examination will consist of rating your training and experience as contained on your application and may include a written test, an oral test, or a combination thereof. All parts of the examination, including ratings and tests, will be related to the requirements of the position. The examination will be designed to measure the following:
Knowledge of:
- Public health emergency response planning models.
- Modern methods, principles and practices of public health.
- Sanitary sciences, including bacteriology, biology, chemistry and personal hygiene.
- Disease and injury causation and the impact of and solutions to current public health problems.
- Public health sampling and testing techniques and laboratory procedures.
- Techniques of collecting and analyzing data.
- Organize and facilitate groups.
- Develop and conduct training groups.
- Interpret and enforce regulations firmly and tactfully with the general public.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Create and maintain rapid electronic communications networks and maintain webpage.
- Communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Prepare clear and concise case records and reports.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions Work is performed in an office environment and in various community settings with travel between sites. Work may be performed outside of normal business hours to respond to emergency situations. May be exposed to body fluids, hazardous wastes material, toxins, and/or poisonous substances.
