Responsible for creating, executing, and evaluating internal and external marketing campaigns across a variety of communication channels to increase public awareness of City of Mesquite’s communications initiatives and programs, in a manner that promotes a positive and consistent image of the City’s brand. Create, maintain, and promote a favorable public relations image and the mission and vision of the department through a variety of media and marketing tools.
SUPERVISION
General supervision is provided by the Director of Communications and Marketing. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
- All behaviors comply with the Code of Conduct and Rules of Behavior outlined in Chapter 8 of the General Government Policies and Procedures Manual.
- Ensure all marketing materials and communications consistently align with the City of Mesquite’s branding guidelines.
- Adhere to assigned work schedule. May require some evening and weekend attendance for coverage of events.
- Research, plan, write, edit, and proofread copy for official city communication, including both internal and external communications.
- Write engaging and informative copy for marketing materials, newsletters, social media, website and other advertising with Associate Press style; completed products must meet City organizational standards for writing, style, and grammar.
- Work with stakeholders to ensure delivery of effective educational, informational, and/or instructional pieces.
- Create and implement marketing plan schedules on time and within budget.
- Assist with design development and creation of print and digital communications within production deadlines.
- Helps with project management and workflow of the department.
- Coordinates English and Spanish social channels.
- Management of workflow and production for mayor’s celebratory documents,
- Evaluate the effectiveness of campaigns and initiatives through metric analysis; provide recommendations for improvement, as appropriate.
- Assist staff with creating and managing outreach efforts at special events and other educational meetings, including informational booths, displays and other related materials.
- Assist with maintaining an up-to-date City website regarding information for departmental webpages in text and graphics.
- Attend classes, workshops, and meetings to stay up to date with current trends and opportunities in marketing.
- Represent the City in various professional organizations, and external or internal committees as assigned.
- Assist with budget development for marketing and outreach programs; research expenditures, writes marketing bid specifications, write purchase orders, and verify purchase receipts.
- Communicate effectively to diverse audiences and seek creative and up-to-date methods for reaching all potential populations affected by City programs.
- Exhibit initiative and creativity in execution of individual projects and building partnerships with stakeholders to support integrated public education and marketing communications efforts.
- Design skills and knowledge to include Adobe Creative Cloud and Canva Pro.
- Some video production skills are a plus.
- Spanish/Bilingual Speaking and Writing Skills a plus (stipend offered for written and speaking Spanish skills upon qualification).
