Nashua, NH
The Inventory Control Specialist is expected to follow established procedures and work instructions, maintain required records and material traceability, identify and communicate discrepancies or potential nonconformities, and contribute to continual improvement of inventory-control processes.
Working closely with Shipping & Receiving, Finance, Production Planning, Purchasing, Quality, and Manufacturing, the Inventory Control Specialist helps keep materials flowing efficiently through production while protecting sensitive and high-value optical, mechanical, and electronic components. Success in this role requires strong attention to detail, teamwork, cycle counts, pertinent ERP transactions, and a commitment to inventory accuracy.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
In Your First Year You Will (What Success Looks Like)
First 30 Days — Learn the Process
- Learn Clear Align’s inventory procedures, ERP system, material locations, and transaction requirements.
- Become familiar with part numbers, bills of material, work orders, and material-handling requirements.
- Perform inventory transactions, material moves, and stocking activities with guidance.
- Begin supporting the preparation and kitting of materials for production work orders.
- Learn proper handling and storage requirements for sensitive and high-value components.
- Participate in cycle counts and inventory reconciliation activities.
By 60 Days — Perform Core Inventory Activities Independently
- Independently complete routine inventory transactions accurately and on time.
- Pick and kit materials to production work orders, verifying correct part numbers, quantities, and traceability.
- Accurately transact material into and out of inventory to support production requirements.
- Maintain organized inventory locations and ensure materials are stored appropriately.
- Perform cycle counts, research routine discrepancies, document findings as required and make only authorized inventory corrections in accordance with established procedures.
- Coordinate with Production Planning and Manufacturing to respond to changing material priorities.
By 90 Days — Take Ownership of Daily Inventory Support
- Independently manage daily inventory activities and production material requests with minimal supervision.
- Prepare accurate kits for complex system builds containing large numbers of individual components.
- Monitor material availability and proactively communicate shortages, discrepancies, or potential production impacts.
- Maintain accurate ERP records reflecting physical inventory movement and work-order activity.
- Identify and appropriately control or segregate suspected nonconforming, damaged, expired, obsolete, or otherwise questionable material in accordance with established procedures, and communicate the condition to the appropriate function.
- Provide backup support for shipping and receiving activities when needed.
By 6 Months — Become a Trusted Inventory Resource
- Maintain a high level of inventory accuracy across assigned materials and storage locations.
- Support production schedules through timely and accurate kitting, material issuance, and work-order support.
- Independently perform cycle counts and support inventory reconciliation activities.
- Work effectively with Purchasing, Production Planning, Manufacturing, Quality, and Shipping & Receiving to resolve material issues.
- Identify opportunities to improve inventory organization, material flow, transaction accuracy, or kitting processes.
- Demonstrate consistent care when handling delicate, sensitive, and high-value components.
- Maintain required inventory records and provide objective evidence of completed inventory-control activities when required.
- Support internal or external quality audits, as applicable, by providing accurate inventory records and other requested documentation within the scope of the role.
By 12 Months — Strengthen Inventory Control & Production Support
- Serve as a dependable resource for inventory accuracy, material availability, kitting, and ERP transactions.
- Anticipate material needs and potential inventory issues before they disrupt production.
- Maintain disciplined inventory practices that support accurate planning and reliable production execution.
- Help improve inventory processes, organization, traceability, and material flow.
- Support cycle-count accuracy and contribute to reducing recurring inventory discrepancies.
- Identify recurring inventory or material-control issues and communicate them to the appropriate functions for evaluation and corrective action, as applicable.
- Provide reliable cross-training and backup support within the Inventory and Shipping & Receiving functions as needed.

- Team-oriented and willing to provide support across Inventory and Shipping & Receiving when business needs require it.
Qualifications
- Must-Have Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to follow documented procedures, work instructions, and established inventory-control requirements.
- Ability to accurately perform electronic inventory and material transactions.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and support material traceability requirements.
- Ability to identify and communicate inventory discrepancies, material identification issues, or other conditions requiring review.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and numerical accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Ability to safely lift materials weighing up to 30 pounds and sit, stand, and move throughout the workday.
- Must qualify as a U.S. Person under applicable export-control requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with ERP or corporate database systems such as Visual Manufacturing, SAP, Oracle, or similar platforms.
- Experience in manufacturing, inventory control, stockroom, or material-handling environment.
- Experience handling delicate, sensitive, or high-value components.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001, AS9100, or another formal Quality Management System is a plus.
- Experience supporting complex manufacturing kits or bills of material is a plus.
Experience with consumables.
