The Behavioral Health Urgent Care Clinician focuses on crisis evaluation and guiding individuals to effective, non-emergency care solutions. The Clinician will use advanced clinical knowledge, communication skills, and collaborative approaches to assist individuals and families experiencing behavioral health crises.
Compensation Range:
The starting pay for this position is $57,600 - $74,400 for limited licensed candidates, and $61,850 - $80,150 annual salary for fully licensed candidates and is based on non-discriminatory factors such as skills and experience.

Essential Functions:
- Be present in the clinic each day.
- Utilize formal and informal assessment practices in order to respond to crisis, needs, desires and interests of the individual/family.
- Perform triage to determine if the individual requires a higher level of care.
- Ensure that the individual’s needs are identified and initially met through innovative and clinically effective methods.
- Complete any needed paperwork accurately and thoroughly prior to individual receiving other services at CNS Healthcare same day.
- Assist with behavioral de-escalation when necessary.
- Complete intake assessments as needed.
- Support individuals in identifying changes in behavior, attitude, feelings, and thoughts that may lead to relapse. Collaborate on building a relapse prevention and crisis plan with the help of personal, community, and provider resources. Ensure crisis plans are clear and easy to follow.
- Use motivational interviewing strategies to engage and provide service to individuals.
- Utilize a trauma-informed approach to deliver services.
- Complete all required documentation and assessments completely, accurately, and in accordance with CNS Healthcare policy.
- Complete Intake meet and greets.
- Act as clinical point of contact for Customer Care Team including receiving phone calls forwarded from CCT.
- Meet direct service productivity and documentation standards per agency and program expectations.
- Ensure that the CNS Healthcare standards of service are applied to interactions with individuals served, guests, and staff.
- Participate in and promote departmental and agency quality improvement initiatives.
- Assume responsibility for professional growth by current reading and attendance at educational programs and conferences.
- Maintain compliance with quality care initiatives including Meaningful Use (MU), Medicare Merit Based Incentive Payment System (MIPS), Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF), and Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) requirements.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required
- Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or Marriage and Family Therapy
- State licensure: Limited-Licensed Master’s Social Worker (LLMSW), Licensed Master’s Social Worker (LMSW), Limited-Licensed Professional Counselor (LLPC), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Limited-Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LLMFT), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Temporary Limited-License Psychologist (TLLP), OR Limited-Licensed Psychologist (LLP)
- At least 3 years of full-time experience in case management in a mental health setting.
- At least 3 years of full-time experience in the human services field.
- Working knowledge and understanding of mental illness, medications used in treating psychiatric disorders, and knowledge and experience with other interventions used to treat psychiatric disorders
- Working Knowledge of Person Centered Planning and clinical compliance practices
- Working knowledge of conflict resolution and crisis intervention
- Working knowledge of legal issues and civil rights applicable to providers of mental health services, such as commitment laws and procedures, duty to warn, duty to protect, guardianship, conservatorship, payee, Americans with Disabilities Act, the Mental Health Code.
- Proficient with computers and Microsoft office products
- Proficient in the use of electronic health records (EHRs)
- Ability to work closely with persons with mental or physical limitations
- Ability to understand and value cultural and ethnic differences, their alternatives perspectives, lifestyles, etc.
- Ability to write clear, concise reports and the ability to formulate and implement an effective treatment plan.
- Ability to work collaboratively and build positive working relationships
- Ability to recognize the importance of collecting and reporting on outcome data
- Ability to apply methods for measuring the multiple variables of treatment outcome
- Ability to communicate effectively, professionally, and courteously
- Ability to use discretion and judgmental when handling matters of a sensitive or confidential nature
- Advanced time management, problem solving, customer service, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to be forward thinking and take initiative to accomplish goals and objectives of the department
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule which may include evenings and weekends.
- Valid and unrestricted Michigan Driver License
- Reliable transportation and current proof of auto insurance
Preferred
- Prior experience in a community mental health setting.
Travel:
This position may require travel during the workday to other locations. CNS Healthcare operates multiple sites within the community, and this position requires the flexibility to drive to several locations and ability to work at any site if needed.
