JOB SUMMARY
ESCO Plastics, part of Colson Group, is investing in a new automated polyurethane manufacturing line at its Magnolia, Texas facility. This strategic expansion will introduce advanced manufacturing technologies, automation, and modern production processes to support future business growth. Team members joining this project will have the unique opportunity to help build a new operation from the ground up, work with state-of-the-art equipment, develop new skills, and contribute to one of the company's most important growth initiatives.
The Senior CNC Machining Technician serves as the technical lead for the CNC machining cell, providing expertise in machine setup, programming, troubleshooting, process optimization, and new product introduction. This role combines hands-on production responsibilities with technical leadership, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality machining operations. The Senior CNC Machining Technician will support daily production requirements while developing machining processes, mentoring technicians and operators, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. This is an onsite, first shift position with a schedule of Monday-Friday, 7:00AM-3:30PM with overtime as required. Pay range for this role is $28.00-$32.00 per hour.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Technical Leadership
- Serve as the primary technical resource for the CNC machining cell.
- Provide leadership and direction to CNC operators and technicians on machining methods, setups, tooling, and process improvements.
- Assist in establishing best practices and standard work instructions for machining operations.
- Mentor and train technicians and operators to develop technical capabilities and promote workforce growth.
- Support workforce development by identifying training needs and helping build future CNC technical talent.
CNC Setup and Operation
- Perform complex machine setups, changeovers, and first-piece approvals.
- Operate CNC machining equipment as part of the daily production team.
- Monitor machining processes and make adjustments as necessary.
- Verify part conformance through inspections and measurement techniques.
Programming and Process Development
- Create, modify, and optimize CNC programs as required.
- Develop machining processes, tooling strategies, and workholding solutions.
- Support process validation and establish machining parameters.
- Maintain program documentation and revision control.
Troubleshooting and Continuous Improvement
- Diagnose and resolve machining, tooling, programming, and equipment-related issues.
- Implement corrective actions to minimize downtime and scrap.
- Lead continuous improvement efforts.
- Collaborate with maintenance and engineering teams.
New Product Introduction (NPI)
- Support the launch of new products into production.
- Collaborate with engineering, quality, and operations teams.
- Recommend tooling, fixturing, and process improvements.
Quality and Safety
- Ensure compliance with all safety policies and procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Support quality systems and corrective action activities.
- Ensure adherence to established quality standards.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & ABILITIES
· Strong understanding of CNC machining principles, tooling, fixturing, and machining strategies.
· Ability to create, edit, and troubleshoot CNC programs.
· Proficiency with precision measuring instruments and inspection techniques.
· Ability to read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, process sheets, and technical drawings.
· Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills.
· Excellent communication and training abilities.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical degree, apprenticeship, or advanced machining certification preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of CNC machining experience in a manufacturing environment.
