The Office of Vocational Rehabilitation empowers individuals with disabilities to maximize employment, achieve economic self-sufficiency and independence, and to contribute back to society. We also help businesses and employers recruit, retain, and accommodate employees with disabilities.
We are seeking a Voc Rehab Counselor to perform professional vocational rehabilitation services including eligibility determination, guidance and counseling, and caseload management oversight for persons with disabilities who are seeking gainful employment; and performs other duties as required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provides vocational counseling; assesses consumers, collects, evaluates and interprets medical, psychological, vocational and other reports to determine eligibility for services and in determining needs for vocational rehabilitation services for consumers to prepare for, enter into or retain employment; coordinates appointments for consumers.
- Assures job placement is consistent with consumers' unique strengths, abilities and interests and coordinates job coaching and other services needed from professionals.
- Plans and coordinates the delivery of vocational rehabilitation services based on assessments and Individual Plans for Employment (IPE); provides consumers with information concerning services, service providers, responsibilities and terms; monitors caseload budgets; assesses the need for rehabilitation technology.
- Develops and maintains case documentation; interprets and applies agency policies and procedures and state and federal laws; enters data in the Case Management System; travels throughout the district to provide services to consumers.
- Develops referrals and performs basic public relation functions and partners with organizations, schools, physicians, etc. throughout the district to arrange services for consumers.
- Performs other duties as required.
