Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health Consultant

Job Position Description:
Are you a dedicated professional committed to the social-emotional well-being of our youngest community members? Community Action is seeking an Infant & Early Childhood Mental Health Consultant (IECMHC) to join our team. In this role, you will partner with early childhood educators and families to build the capacity to foster healthy relational health, address challenging behaviors, and most importantly, work to dismantle systemic disparities in suspension and expulsion rates within early learning settings.
Abbreviated Duties List:
- Provide preventive, consultative support to ECE providers and families to promote the mental health of infants and young children.
- Develop written intervention strategies and provide 1:1 and group professional development to help adults create supportive, trauma-informed environments.
- Lead efforts to reduce race disparities in suspension/expulsion rates by employing anti-bias and anti-racist practices in every consultation.
- Build strong, collaborative relationships with diverse families, childcare providers, and community partners across Washington County.
- Bring observational insights and developmental questions to reflective supervision, ensuring your practice remains responsive and evidence-based.
Abbreviated Requirements:
- Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field, or the ability to achieve a Step 10 on the Oregon Registry within 12-months of hire.

Specialized Training (Must meet ONE of the following):
- Pathway 1: Master's degree in mental health, license/license-eligible, and work experience as a mental health professional.
- Pathway 2: At least 2 years of experience in an early childhood field, IMH-E or ECMH-E Endorsement (Family Associate/Specialist level), and completion of 20 hours of specialized mental health training.
- Certificate Programs: Completion of approved graduate certificate programs in Infant/Toddler Mental Health.
- Demonstrated ability to engage in conversations about racism, bias, and equity with sensitivity to linguistic, cultural, and individual differences.
- Ability to manage multiple projects independently while providing support at both the individual (1:1) and group (training) levels.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; comfort in building strong, trusting professional relationships.
- Enrollment in Oregon Central Background Registry prior to offer of employment being extended.
- Requires a valid Oregon driver's license, proof of auto insurance for a private vehicle, and access to reliable transportation.
What Will Make You Stand Out:
- Possession of an Oregon Registry Master Trainer Certification.
- Prior experience providing Technical Assistance, classroom observations, or operating a child care business.
- Bilingual English/Spanish, written and verbal.
