Exciting Opportunity: Maintenance Technician
Full-time M-F and Saturdays On-Call
Are you a skilled maintenance professional looking to make a difference in your community? Join our team as a Maintenance Technician and play a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing our properties for substance-abusing women and their families. Your contributions will directly impact the quality of life for those we serve.
Position Summary:
As a Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for performing a variety of maintenance tasks to ensure the safety, functionality, and aesthetics of our properties. From conducting repairs and improvements to responding to service requests, you'll play a vital role in creating a safe and welcoming environment for our residents.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform various maintenance tasks to maintain and enhance property value.
- Record maintenance activities in daily logs and reports.
- Conduct repairs and improvements, including drywall, painting, caulking, plumbing, HVAC, electrical, flooring, and more.
- Respond to resident service requests and concerns in a timely manner.
- Participate in on-call emergency service rotations.
- Report maintenance concerns and recommend capital repairs to the Housing Manager.
- Coordinate maintenance activities with other departments and contractors.
- Attend safety and maintenance training sessions as directed.
- Perform inspections and ensure compliance with regulations.
- Assist with special projects and events as needed.
Required Qualifications:
- A current valid Virginia motor vehicle license with a lean driving record in the most recent three years.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- One to two years of verifiable hands-on maintenance experience required.
- Proficiency in at least one major area of maintenance (e.g., plumbing, HVAC, electrical, etc.).
- Trade school or military training a plus.
Skills and Abilities:
- Effective communication skills for interacting with colleagues and residents.
- Strong reasoning ability for planning and scheduling repairs, interpreting codes, and inventorying supplies.
- Ability to use tools and equipment effectively.
- Knowledge of maintenance practices, safety principles, and computer applications.
Certificates and Licenses:
- Specialized license or certificate in a related field desirable.
- Current auto insurance required.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to perform heavy physical work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Strength, stamina, and mobility to lift and move heavy materials and equipment.
- Vision and communication abilities required for reading, writing, and interacting with others.
Work Environment:
- Willingness to work outdoors in various conditions.
- Mobility required for performing maintenance tasks and responding to emergencies.
- Collaborative teamwork in ensuring property quality standards are met.
