POSITION SUMMARY

Provides instruction on a part-time, adjunct basis for CRJ prefix courses. The successful candidate will have a broad knowledge of general principles of Criminal Justice as well as specific knowledge in the area of criminal profiling. Candidates should possess excellent communication skills, both written and oral, and be committed to working in a diverse environment while following best practices and principles for working in that environment. Assignments may vary between day, night, and online courses.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Teach assigned classes and maintain appropriate records, including grades and attendance
• Participate in assessment of student learning activities as required
• Evaluate student learning with respect to all published course learning outcomes as found in the Common Course Numbering System
• Provide a copy of the proposed syllabus to the department chair one week before assigned classes begin, and provide an approved version of that syllabus to students at the first-class session
• Submit final grades by the deadline
• Complete all required trainings, including Desire2Learn and New Instructor orientation
• Attend any required meetings

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION:
Master's degree in one of several related degrees listed below. Also allowed, a Master's degree in any field, plus 18 graduate credits in one of the related degrees listed below.

Related degree: Criminal Justice, Criminology, Forensic Anthropology, Forensic Psychology, Juris Doctorate, Political Science, Sociology, Social Science, Public Administration, Public Affairs.

• Ability to receive a postsecondary Career and Technical Education (CTE) credential by demonstrating adequate occupational experience by documenting verified, paid or unpaid occupational experience in the credential area within the last 7 years. Adequate experience will consist of 2000 hours (1 year of full-time work).

PREFERED QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience teaching at the community college level

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION

Salary: Instructional hours will be paid at the current Instructor rate, which is $1,213.00 per credit hour. Science course compensation includes additional pay for added contact hours.

Position Specifics: Position is part-time. There are no insurance benefits offered with this position; however, other benefits associated with this type of position include a pension plan through the Colorado Public Employees Retirement Association and eligibility to contribute to supplemental retirement plans.
