About the Job
The Store Sales Manager is the heartbeat of our revenue strategy, tasked with the ultimate retail challenge: driving aggressive sales growth within the tight boundaries of cannabis regulation. There is no leading from the back—you are an on-the-floor coach and data-driven strategist who thrives on the 'real-time' win. You will spend your days transforming every Budtender interaction into a transformational customer experience. Your goal is to consistently exceed sales targets while strictly adhering to all regulatory and compliance guidelines.
What You Will Do
Core Responsibilities
- Oversee daily store operations including opening/closing procedures, cash handling, and shift management.
- Maintain a clean, organized and well merchandised store environment, ensuring product is neatly placed with correct signage.
- Manage employee rest periods and meal breaks according to CA Labor laws.
- Assign tasks and register assignments on the Daily Schedule.
- Drive store revenue by setting clear hourly goals for the day and holding the team accountable to performance expectations.
- Execute company direction on promotional strategies daily to drive traffic and revenue results.
- Train and develop staff through ongoing coaching, empowerment and performance feedback.
- Conduct performance evaluations and implement goals and improvement plans when necessary, under the guidance of the General Manager
- Foster a positive, inclusive and results driven culture that promotes team engagement and supports retention.
- Lead by example on the salesfloor, actively engaging with customers and supporting the team.
- Ensure delivery of exceptional customer experiences aligned with brand standards.
- Resolve customer concerns and escalations professionally and in a timely manner, turning issues into loyalty opportunities.
- Ensure all employees are adhering to company policies and procedures in accordance with the Company Handbook.
Role Specific Responsibilities
- Take full ownership of daily performance metrics—including AOV, SPH, and new customer acquisition—transforming raw data into aggressive floor strategies that drive revenue.
- Spend the majority of shifts on the sales floor, evolving the team from "order takers" to brand experts through real-time feedback and high-touch performance coaching.
- Identify high-caliber talent and foster a "growth mindset" by creating learning pathways, such as product training programs and specialized workshops.
- Enforce a rigorous "Zero-Error" environment, ensuring 100% accuracy in ID checks, state-mandated METRC tracking, and all regulatory procedures.
- Maintain 100% menu accuracy while strategically highlighting high-margin products and "slow-movers" to optimize inventory turnover.
- Cultivate a positive, inclusive culture by upholding premium dress code standards and promptly resolving team safety or performance concerns.
- Drive a best-in-class customer experience that prioritizes personalized product education, ensuring every guest has a reason to return.
- Foster a results-driven environment by celebrating top-tier sales wins while decisively addressing underperformance to maintain elite team standards.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Average Order Value: Increasing the average dollar amount per transaction through strategic upselling.
- New Customer Acquisition: Driving the experience to increase more first time buyers.
- Audit Accuracy: Ensuring 100% compliance during internal and state-level inventory audits.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Upholds compliance and regulatory requirements at all times; maintains the reputation of the store
- Ensures product inventory is entered correctly and organized for proper purchasing
- Protects employees and customers by providing and safe and clean store environment
- Manager is aware of employee performance and interaction with patients
- Assigns workers to specific projects such as cleaning or restocking
- Notify staff of new procedures, policies and regulation updates/changes
- Create/oversee staff schedules, finding coverage if needed for sick time or personal time off
- Educate and train staff on all current and new products.
- Demonstrate ability to speak at a high level about the business.
What We Are Looking For
- Must be 21+ years of age
- High school or equivalent
- 1-2 years leadership experience in retail, customer service, hospitality, food service, or a related field
- Must be able to work a variety of hours including mornings, nights, and weekends
- Proven Sales Background: 2+ years of retail management experience with a documented history of hitting or exceeding sales targets.

Compensation
The hourly pay range for this position in the selected city is: $26.00-$32.00. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.
