Job Description:
Analyzes specification, lays out metal stock, sets up/operates machine tools, fits and assembles parts to fabricate and repair metalworking dies, cutting tools, jigs, fixtures and machinist hand tools.
Key Responsibilities:
Sets up and operates manual lathes, manual mills, manual and automatic surface grinders and all related tool room equipment. Fabricates and maintains precision tooling for progressive and compound dies. Troubleshoot, modifies and repairs dies to meet company specification for production parts. Fabricates and assembles tooling for new dies and fixtures.
Skills and Requirements:
- Due to need to maintain ITAR compliance, applicants must be U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.
- Reads and comprehends complex blueprints and inspection specifications with a good knowledge of dimensional tolerance,
- Sets up and uses optical comparators, surface plates and various inspection devices to measure part dimensions,
- Sets controls of the heat-treating furnace and heat treats parts to required Rockwell hardness,
- Ability to machine and grind precision tooling to the tolerances of +/-.0002,
- Lifts and positions dies for assembly and dis-assembly
- Uses hand tools such as files and stones to achieve special shapes and profiles in steel,
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and operating instructions,
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form,
- Effective time management skills,
- Ability to read, write, and follow written and verbal instructions in English,
- Ability to work well with only modest amount of repeated instructions,
- Be team oriented and possess flexibility and adaptability,
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to remain standing in a position for long periods of time; must be able to frequently move about the work area to perform required duties; must possess manual dexterity and visual acuity (corrected) to read blueprints and operate manufacturing equipment and may relocate products weighing between .5 (1/2) pound to 60 pounds at various times.
