Dane Street is expanding our physician panel! Dane Street is a leading national Independent Review Organization with a highly robust legal clientele. As our business has expanded, we have an immediate need to add specialized experts to our physician panel to support Texas Counter-Affidavit (Section 18.001) challenges and expert witness requests.
This is an excellent opportunity for supplemental income for physicians, providing a caseload customized entirely to your individual schedule. Our physician panel is comprised of independent contract reviewers (1099) compensated on a per-case basis.
Job SummaryAs a Physician Reviewer/Advisor supporting Dane Street Legal Services, you will leverage your specialized clinical expertise in biomechanics, injury mechanisms, and force causation analysis. You will review medical records, accident data, or imaging to determine whether specific clinical treatments were necessitated by a given event, and whether the associated billing reflects usual and customary rates.
The expert will directly support the Texas Counter-Affidavit process and must be available to serve as a deposition and trial expert. Experience and expertise in analyzing the application of CPT codes in combination with usual and customary rates (UCR) and state fee schedules—alongside your clinical and biomechanical expertise—is essential.
Requirements
- An active, unrestricted Texas Medical License.
- Active Board Certification.
- Demonstrable expertise, training, or fellowship in biomechanics, injury causation, or collision reconstruction analysis.
- Prior experience with the Texas Counter-Affidavit process, depositions, and trial testimony is preferred.
- Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Case Evaluation: On a contract basis as your individual schedule permits, accept cases, review all medical records/accident metrics, and evaluate tissue tolerance and injury causation.
- Counter-Affidavit Execution: Complete the counter-affidavit process, addressing each clinical question, injury relationship concern, and any charge/fee discrepancy based on standards and norms in Texas practice.
- Criteria Reporting: Provide copies of any utilized medical necessity criteria or biomechanical guidelines with the report in a timely manner.
- Deadline Management: Return completed cases on or before the due date and time specified.
- Legal Support: Perform other duties as assigned, including addressing any necessary clarifications, providing addenda as required (with additional compensation), and responding to client or court questions.
